I have searched this site for the better part of the evening trying to find out how to set up my X50v and have not found anything that will help, but then again have found many links on wifi that appear to be dead, inlcuding this one>>>
http://wifi.aximsite.com/axim-03se.html
So here goes:
I have an X50v that previously was able to access my wireless network at home, so I know it is not broken. That being said, there is "free internet" in our neighborhood and my device always wants to connect, even though it is a very poor singal. At times it would connect to my wireless network, but I do not really understand why.
So, I went and set up a unique name [an SSID?] for my D Link DI-514 network as well as WEP encryption, and changed to a different channel from the 'free internet'. After doing this, my device sees the my SSID, sees that is a good signal, but it has the lock icon next to it.
I have muddled my way into: Settings-->Connections-->Network Card--> [at this point under GENERAL: I can find my network name, identified it as "Work", going to NETWORK KEY: I have tried "Open" as well as "Shared: Authentication, set encryption to WEP, put in the key from my D Link network] however, I cannot access the internet on my deivce, either with my network or "free internet".
Any advice before I toss this thing out in the snow bank? :rolling:
I am sure it something simple for the well versed, but I have to admit the Dell Owner's Manual is the most lacking, cryptic pos that might have been the reason the axim never really coght on????
