help with networking

Hi,
I have been trying, off-and-on, for a while now to wirelessly network my axim to my laptop. I have found that when I am using my internal (Intel) wireless card and a router, my connection continues to drop and reconnect. I am hoping that someone can help me to set up the network correctly.

In connection settings, I have right-clicked on the card and set up an ad-hoc connection "dellHH". I have clicked to only allow ad-hoc connections with this card, and to connect automatically when "DellHH" is in range (on my computer and on the Dell). I have clicked to "allow other network computers to connect through this computers internet connection".

I am not the best with configuring networks, so maybe someone can help? It seems like the router is getting in the way of my computer DHCP assigning a constant IP address to the Dell. However, It isn't just one router that I am dealing with...I may be in a coffee shop and I get the same reaction. Should I go into the TCP/IP Protocol Properties and set up an alternate configuration with a static IP address? Anything else I can do?

Any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated!

Thanks

I assume the routers you are referring to are WiFi routers. Usually the dropping of connections can be solved by disabling 'Power save mode' on the Main page of the WLAN Utility.
