A few weeks back, I went through the hassle of upgrading my X50v from WM2003SE to WM6. You can see my info about it on the site where you got the info about upgrading. I use the same userid.
I hate to say it, but the most important software you'll want to download is the Dell utility that downgrades from WM5 (and WM6) to WM2003:
Drivers and Downloads
You'll probably also want to downgrade ActiveSync to 3.8:
Microsoft ActiveSync 3.x Desktop Software - HPC Factor
You get WiFi syncing back, etc.
The problem is the memory types used in the X50v just don't play well with WM5 or WM6. There are lots of tweaks, fixes, adjustments, etc. But, in the end the speed is just not there. WM5 (and 6) was designed around the types of memory used in the X51v and all the newer HTC built system use this.
However, in taking my PPC to WM6, I upgraded several apps that I had been using with WM2003, and after I went back, I found that the new versions of these apps made my WM2003 experience better:
SPB PocketPlus v4.02 works great with the tabs as buttons at the top. It even allows you to put plugins on a tab.
The newest version of
Calendar+ works well with it.
Also, I've got
WeatherToGo as a plugin on it's own tab.
Another place to check for software is on the "View MyPDA" link on people's info to the left of their posts. Or, check the Stickies at the top of the forum list.
