Question Daylight Savings Time

I'm in EST and when I'm trying to spring forward 1 hour - it stays for a while, but then reverts back to winter time!
How do I make it stay with the new time?
thx!

DST didn't take on x51v

I installed Microsoft's February release and Microsoft's release prior to that....neither took.

After you installed the update, did you change the time zone on the pocket pc to a different time zone and then change it back to the correct time zone?

Shouldn't the Axim update the time when it syncs with the desktop PC? Mine's not doing it. Is it something I have to enable somewhere?

Never mind... my timezone was set to Indiana instead of Eastern US.

Yup, no joy. Noticed that my Axim X51v didn't switch over automatically this morning, even though the 2007 dst update was installed. Attempted to reinstall it over top, it said the current version was not fully uninstalled and proceeded to install. It reboots the pda, no change, uninstall and reinstall, no joy. Come over to Aximsite see there is a new dst update, uninstall the 2007 one and install the 2008 one, no joy, change the tz manually to something else then back to GMT-8. no joy. Manually set time to correct value, look at calendar, some appointments are 1 hour off and some are 2 hours off . This is on an A12 Axim that I've been using for over a year.

Took my backup X51v with A12 and clean of any other software, went through same process of installing 2008 dst update, it reboots, adjust timezone, but it doesn't update the time, end up manually updating it.

Anyone else experiencing this?

The MS DST updates did not work on my WM5 X51V, either; however, they did screw up each and every one of my recurring appointment times.

there were 2008 updates? why weren't we notified of these last month and why couldn't they just permanently fix it instead of releasing a new patch every year?

If you were in Australia or New Zealand you were probably aware of the updates.

This new update is only new because it includes DST time changes for all the different regions of the world that have changed DST start and end dates over the last couple of years. Prior to this new update, there were separate updates for US/Mexico/Canada & New Zealand & Australia, and maybe some other countries. You really don't need to mess around with this new update unless you travel internationally and don't have all the other updates already installed.

This morning one of my Pocket PCs did not change over either even though I had installed the DST update on it a year ago and I could verify that it was still installed. I think the reason it got screwed up was because I recently installed a Calendar update from HP that fixed a leap year issue with this pocket pc.

All I did was reinstall the DST update, changed the timezone to a different timezone, saved, then changed back to my timezone. Everything is working well now.

I too have been having problems. I had the original DST installed but it failed to spring forward, so I installed the one found here (for WM2003SE):

Download details: Windows Mobile Updates for Daylight Saving Time (Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC)

Changed the time zone, saved, then changed back, but it ended up making the clock two hours behind! I then uninstalled both DSTs, tried again, but it's still not working. My desktop I sync with is fine though.

"The MS DST updates did not work on my WM5 X51V, either; however, they did screw up each and every one of my recurring appointment times."

Same thing for me. I went through this last fall too. I just end up doing a wipe and then reload it all. I do the whole thing. Install WM5 DST Patch before anything else, go forward a timezone then back and then sync. Still all screwed up.

My Blackberry doesn't have an issue. But I hate my Blackberry compared to my WM5 device.

Why can't my Microsoft stuff work better with Microsoft? Honestly! All my all-day appointments had moved a day and lots of other screwups. Just blanking it helped, but why should I have to reload it all every single time we go through a DST change?

One thing Blackberry does better is the way you can update the OS on the device using the sync software. I wish Microsoft would do something similar so you wouldn't have to rely on this kind of a patch.

My clock is set correctly, my timezone, too. But my daily alarm set for 16:00 just went off at 17:00.

Great job MS!

The DST patch from last year seems to be working fine on my Axim X51.
