Hey all, I have compiled a guide for those who want to get FPSEce (Playstation emulator) running on their Axim X51V.
I am using Final Fantasy VII as a benchmark.
Firstly, Hard Reset your Axim! Third party applications, and Today Screen add-ons will interrupt functionality and FPS
Download the FPSEce 0.9.6 Beta from here:
http://pocketgaming.de/Michu/Emulato....09.6_beta.rar
Download the PocketISO 3.0 Compression Utility from here:
http://oludovic.free.fr/PocketISO.rar
Download the Playstation BIOS file from here:
http://fs01n3.sendspace.com/dl/51264...n/scph1001.zip
1) Copy the contents from the FPSEce rar file to your Axim. Any directory is fine, but I suggest just dumping it on your SD or CF card rather than internal memory because the default open location for your PSX games is in a sub directory "isos" which cannot be changed from default.
2) Put the SCPH1001.BIN Playstation BIOS file into the BIOS directory of FPSEce on your Axim.
3) Open FPSEce on the Axim, and click Options > Bios > Chose and select the Bios bin file.
4) Set your buttons in the Options > Joypad menu
5) For Options > CPU Mode, you want to select ARM V5
6) Go to Options > Misc > GFX Driver set it to LFB. (VGA Works, but not on landscape, and LFB is faster.)
7) Turn on Frame Skip in the Options > Misc menu.
8) Grab yourself a Playstation Rom from
http://romhustler.net/roms/psx or create yourself one from CD.
Make sure to use Alcohol 120% to create an ISO file. MagicISO will destory your image file.
9) Not necessary, but you can compress the ISO using Pocket ISO (Download above) You can shrink files with it from 700mb, down to around 450mb!
10) Copy the ISO (Or compressed files) into the 'isos' directory (Or any other directory) on the Axim.
11) Open the rom from the Start > Start ISO menu, and load your game.
12) Once you see the gamepad, click Options and set your frame skip. 5 works best.
13) Play around with the settings a bit if you like, but I found these work best, for FFVII anyway.
These are the settings I have used on my Axim X51V and my FPS during the FFVII (New Game) opening cinematic is between 34 - 40 FPS with these settings. Gameplay is very smooth (Sound sucks though). Transition screens (Entering battle, experience couter after battle) is very slow, but who cares about that!
Anyway, I hope this helps those of you who have been trying to get it to work properly.
