I dumped my xv6800 for a blackberry 8830. I also decided to carry my x51V again.
Sooo...I now have an issue where the blackberry sync program seems to inhibit activesync. I've killed the bb services, but activesync still won't launch when connecting my X51V. I need both to run independently (only one connected at a time).
It might not be the BB that has caused the problem.
AS can be rather unstable on it's own.
Was AS working before you connected the BB or had it been a while since you had last synced.
If you have installed a firewall or antivirus software since you last connected, it could be that.
There are quite a few reasons for AS not connecting.
Have a look in the Active Sync forum, you might find an answer there.
If not, post again with a bit more info and maybe we can get you going again.
Yes, activesync worked fine before installing blackberry sync. My question is whether blackberry sync and active sync can co-exist on the same computer/profile?
The bb syncs fine. When I connect my x51v, AS flashes up for a split second and disappears. BTW, the OS is Vista with the embedded sync center. I haven't changed anything on my PDA so I'm sure that part is fine. It's likely that the sync software cannot coexist...just need some opinion if this is the case.

Jeff, my BlackBerry Pearl and iPAQ both sync on my pc and laptop. In fact, I can sync one device with the other already connected. I wonder if you have some kind of port conflict?
I uninstalled Mobile Device Center and reinstalled it (V6.1). Upon first connection of my x51v, the driver installed....that's it. MDC just sits there waiting for a device to connect. I have USB checked and BT de-checked. I guess my next step is to uninstall the BB 4.3 software.
I have the problem(s) resolved. Spent many hours working on the issue (trying numerous things). Here's what it took to eliminate the RapiMGR.exe errors:
Uninstalled, Windows Mobile Device Center, Blackberry Desktop Manager and Blackberry Device Manager.
Performed a non-destructive installation of Windows Vista over the existing OS.
Reinstalled Windows Mobile Device Center V6. Axim was detected and profile established.
Upgraded Windows Mobile Device Center to V6.1. Axim would no longer sync and RAPIMgr.exe errors returned.
Uninstalled Windows Mobile Device Center V6.1 and reinstalled V6. In the end, the version still said V6.1 and now my Axim syncs fine.
