axim always resets to july 1, 2005

every time i soft reset, the date on my axim reverts to july 1, 2005, what's up with that?

You don't say what Axim you have but if it's a 50 the backup battery
is probably shot and if it's 51v then the supercap that performs backup
needs replacement.

Thats correct. It means physically repairing your unit or just live with the issue and reset the date and time. If your unit is still under warrenty send it in to Dell.
