My X51v freezes everyday!

Hello,
I've got some problems with my first Ax (charging and loose battery door) and then I got a refurbished one from Dell that is charging fine and didn't complaint about the battery door.

So, I started to fill it up with all my software (I did not made a backup copy, just decided to reinstall everything) and added 2 more: the Concept version of NetFront browser, that freezes alone sometimes, and an old dictionary (SlovoEd and another one that I don't remember now, I already uninstalled it) that could messed the system up, since it has a functionality that every day it shows a "word of the day" that pops up just like a reminder. SlovoEd doesn't provide the option to uninstall and just now I've switched off the "word of the day" option.

What happens is that the system freezes frequently. There are no responses from buttons or touch and the clock is stuck at one time. Althought the screen light does turn on. The way out is soft-reset.

So, I've never seen THIS device working with stability, this problem has occured since I started to use it. Couldn't it be a problem with the device and not with the softwares?

The rom is a WM5 A04 Brazilian. I would really like to get a more updated (and in english) rom version but I can't since that's the last one in brazilian portuguese.

So, what do you think?
Thanks!

Latest Dell release is at A12 which fixed all of the issues (for me at least) that my X51V had from the start. I would suggest the upgrade but make sure you read the thread on this site as to the specific steps to do on this ROM upgrade. Not following them correctly has bricked others X51Vs (as reported here). Other ROM upgrades to the X51V can be found on the internet but prior to looking at them I would look to the Dell ROM upgrade (IMHO).

Not sure if there is a Brisilian release for a12 but there might be. It sounds like something is waiting to update and just hangs until it could which in your case sounds like never. I know it sounds like a pain but I would hard reset and start again. I haven't had much luck with netfront on my pda and it caused it to hang so that would be my vote. But if you do this I would only load a program or two at a time and then make a full backup, always keeping the last two previous backups until you are sure you are still working.

Well, since yesterday it haven't freezed...

what I've done:
* disablied that "word of the day" option
* made the "dummy server fix" to the ActiveSync. I've had problems with it on my previous PDA, an Ipaq

I guess that may be solved since I believe it's a problem with a dictionary, but its not definitive yet

As I know, A04 is the latest brazilian rom ...

Peppermint, I suggest you to uninstall any software that you installed +- at the same time you noted the problems or even any suspicious application, like one that loads by itself.
