IE crashing whenever trying to browse a website

Hi there,

I have a problem with the pocket IE on my german x51v ROM A12. Whenever I try to navigate to a website in the internet, the pocket IE just crashes to the today screen. This happens wiht other browsers which use the PIE applet as well.

Do you know any solutions to this issue?

Thanks a lot

Try using Opera instead, this will solve a lot of PIE's shortcomings, and it's more versatile, see it Here: Opera Mobile

try cleaning out the cache. go to the browser>menu>tools> then the memory tab and click on delete files. that usually clears it up for me.

That didn't solve it :-(

It just tries to navigate to the page and then eventually crashes.

A soft reset (not hard reset) would be the first thing I would do.

How much free/available RAM program memory do you have? Check start/settings/system/memory and see how much you have left. If this is not enough to run PIE it will just shut itself down. You need at least 12 Mb free I've found. you may have to turn off some today screen plug-ins or something like that

Do you have any software like Memaid installed that optimizes ram? What typically happens is that the PIE cache gets moved to a storage card, and then makes a duplicate of itself causing it to crash. Check that you have no IE cache on any of your storage cards.

I agree with the earlier post about opera, my PIE crashes a lot, Opera is much more stable and flexible, trouble is you have to pay for it but can try it for free first.

Have you chaned PIE cache to be stored on a SD card? That was a huge problem fr me. I swiched cache back to Main Memory and have not had a crash since.

I have this problem for quite a lot of time, but I didn't care about it since I didn't use my Axim to surf. Therefore I have oftenly resetted my Axim. Never helped. I have enough free RAM (40% free) and do not use memory optimizers. The only thing I didn't try is moving the cache to SD. I will try that today.

Thanks for your suggestions!
