Well, well ... it's been a long while since I posted to this forum ... i'm sure much to Chris' appreciation. :) I haven't posted since aximsite ... anyways, now that I have read some of this thread i'm going to pick up my axim and flash it sometime and start using it again. It's been sitting around collecting dust for the longest ... I still use it to play music here and there but not much else (since I refuse to buy an iPod

)

I might have to poke around the site more now.

i am totally lost with getting my axim x50v to sync or do anything else with this windows vista crap and microsoft office 2007 any help guy's? i really would appreciate it i am banging head here...

Hi there, "Systems>" New on this site but HAD this problem. With a X51 wm 5.0

Try using bluetooth and active-syncing that way. I tried it and was suprised to find that Vista 64bit just said yes.. (Using a bluetooth dongle).

You have to open activsync on the dell and then click on connect via bluetooth the first time, then once its established that it can it should remember the setting and there you go.

cannot install progs via this method but Can copy cab files on to the sd/cd card and install progs that way. (Or just use a card reader).

The system wouldnt even see that I had plugged the dell in let alone anything else.

Now able to sync between windows xp pro 64bit, vista home 64bit and office 2007 on both. hope that helps.

If you look at the post above yours will find a direct link to WM6.1 for X50V.

Just a note.

Vista uses Windows Mobile Device Center as a replacement for Active Sync.

I have been gifted with the return of my x51v... I'm really considering 6.1 on it... but not certain of it yet... Still don't know what I'll do with it AND my Fuze

I too have recently dusted off my axim x51v. I don't really have a use for it with my blackberry fully in use and not wanting to carry another device around. Maybe I'll just have a little flashing fun!

not been on this site in a while as i sold my x30 a long time ago. However, I just picked up an x50v from a friend and have flashed it with a few different roms, but i've found the makuu one most complete/useful, expecially once you use ozvga. Wifi working great and I can also use my phone as a bluetooth dial up modem when i'm not using wifi.

Been using WM6.1 Lenny v11 for a few months (think it's six) now. I have to do soft reset almost every day and I am getting tired of the start up noise of HTC geek every time wm6.1. is loading up. Does anyone have similar encounter? Is there a final version I should be using that can cure this problem? I lost the proper icons in a lot of the programs, i.e. play, stop button/icon no longer the same. Does this problem ring a bell?

The start-up noise can be disabled by this .cab: RapidShare: Easy Filehosting.

If you are saying the buttons on WMP mobile are bad, reinstall the skin:

Sometimes, a hard reset will solve this problems. Or you can wait for v12 (Lenny's L12) to come out. It is in alpha right now.

A lot of this seems like intellectual nitpicking imo; i'd buy the software for my x51v but I paid good money for it & refuse to let dell make it obsolete, like u.s. carmakers used to do. I find dell ethically wrong to abandon keeping this device current, expecting me to buy another expensive unit to keep up with the times? Seems like a ripoff to me. Either offer the upgrade at a nominal cost or legalize downloading it, seems fair to me. Reminds me of forcing the public to buy a box to get tv on our own airwaves, only we can't even buy wm6! So I say one is justified in updating however they can.

I have an Axim 51V with A04 in Spanish. I would like to change to WM5 A12 in English through an SD card ROM change. I have the Dell file R129272(English A12) and the IMG2NB0F program to obtain the .nbo and the .nbo.crc files. But I wonder if I could find in Rapidshare or somewhere else the RAR or Zip files with the mentioned files so I dont have to go over all the trouble of generating them. If someone knows where I can get them, please let me know.
Will a 256 MB SD card formatted as FAT32 be enough for this tipe of ROM updating?
Once I am familiar with this SD ROM updating I might try to update to WM6. I use my Axim mostly for reading with Mobipocket Reader and with MS Reader, and to listen to music using Windows Media Player, PocketMusicPlayer and WinAmp and I'm actually using a 4GB normal SD card. But I just bought a 8GB and an 16 GB SDHD cards and I would like to use them at their full extent. Which ROM would suite me more for this purpose: Lennys 11 or 12 or other?
