MannyL, if you are talking about WM6 I think you are out of luck.

I don't believe anyone has made a WM6 ROM for your device. Yet.

I may be wrong.

Edit: This thread may be of some interest. And Steven855 has mentioned building a WM6 ROM for the X50 mid, don't know what stage he is at with that.

Worried Questions?

Hey guys, I recently installed WM6 Classic on my Axim X50v. I've noticed some hangs and delays while the PPC is craddle and syncing. Has any body experienced the same? I'm runing WM6 Classic CE 5.2.1908 (Build 18508.0.7.0) ROM Vers. A02 (16.09.07), if there is any help or update someone could PIM me about I'd be gratefaul.:)

And something else: What is the diference between WM6 Classic and Professional version?

Huh, glowing reviews, I might have to take a look at Lenny's ROM.
Come to think, I might already have 6.1 on my Axim, but it has been such a long time since I picked it up.

Happy to see some activity here...

I would flash Lennys 6.1 A09, I think the 6.0 A02 is Flashlite's old rom..I think the difference is professional is for phones with a touchscreen, classic is for touchscreen pdas. I think classic has less of the phone functionality type software than professional does. I could be wrong, this is just my observation.

That's accurate. Pro is just the smartphone version. Makuu's VOIP rom is pro and he has an older one that comes with a script built in to switch between Pro and Classic. I'm not sure there is any benefit over loading the smartphone DLLs on a classic setup unless you use VOIP.

Big Smile Another Success

:)OK so I updated my X50v to wm6 with this post. I have to say, it was a time consuming PITA. Update 2003 to wm5 A01, then A02, and then WM6...but worth it. I had the update CD to go to WM5 A01, then downloaded A02 to a thumbdrive, and WM6 to an SD Card. Keep in mind to follow the correct order of hitting the correct buttons to get it to boot from the SD card. It took me 2 or 3 times, and reading the instructions a second time to get the right order. But it worked like a charm, and is running no problem. Now to figure out what Reader I want to use that will read PDFs. Can't use Reader because of side to side scroll, and lack of rewrapping words for smaller screen. Not paying $15 for Reader LE, so off I go to download free readers and try them out.

Thank you again....Great instrustions and downloads:approve:

Does anyone know of a way to install a custom ROM via USB instead of SD? My Action Button and DPad don't work anymore and I'm stuck back on WM5. I've upgraded before but since downgrading, my Action/DPad buttons don't work so no SD Loader for me. Or possibly does anyone know of a way to remap the Action button to another button so that I could use something else when the SD Loader prompts me to push it?

Raynda, the answer would be no as of now. A few of us are attempting to use USB flashing with no success.

Lennys 6.1 A09 at the HTC site says that rom is "cancled". What does that mean? Was this the current best one. I saw he is working on others.

I reflashed one of Lennys old roms, A06, the one I had been using before. Why is it my Ax gets slugish and unresponsive after a few months and I have to do a hard reset?!
So is there a general opinion on the best rom out there for the Ax?

1.) A member downloading a pirated, modified version of Vista, having the 'reduced functionality mode' (pre-SP1) clamp down due to the uploader not being thorough in circumventing the anti-piracy controls, and then asking for support to resolve the problems so that (s)he can continue to avoid purchasing a legal copy.
2.) A thief stealing a car, having the wheels blown out by tire spikes in a police chase, and then asking you to repair them so (s)he can continue driving the stolen car.

The point is that without support in fixing the illegal ROM they would have to instead ask for support in returning to a legal state. Conversely, by allowing other to offer support in fixing the illegal ROM you are facilitating piracy, more or less giving them a pat on the back and saying 'it's OK, you don't need to give up on piracy...someone here may help.' Thus, I believe the relaxed rules take it too far, crossing the line of both legality and ethicality.

Hello. I purchased my Axim x51v refurbished. I was not even aware of this issue until now. Not everyone who has WM 6 is criminal or even contributed to such behavior. I haven't personally done anything wrong. What would you suggest? I go backwards? Pay extra $$ to revert to 5?

The example of a vehicle is another take altogether. If I had purchased a stolen car.... oh my gosh, that'd be terrible & I probably wouldn't be allowed to keep it. Am I justifying priacy, no. I don't download things I don't pay for, etc.. But, like I said, I did not even know having WM 6.0 was incorrect. Truthfully, there were about 10% of the Axims I found for sale that has this OS.

I just wanted to state a different paradigm here. And, I wish to express my thanks to Mobility for now supporting issues that will help me, specifically, get more optimization out of my beloved PDA.

Thank you.
