WiFi slows down x51v

Hi all,

hoping you can help me with this :)

I am running an x51v with wm6 (a03), and spb pocket plus. I have two tabs on the today plugin - one has my calendar/tasks/mail notification, and the other has my program launcher.

My issue is this - if I have wifi switched off, the axim is super-responsive. It switches on immediately, and it runs fast once it's on too. But, if I leave the wi-fi switched on, everything slows up. It's still useable, but much less responsive. It takes about a second or so to switch on from standby, and everything in the GUI thinks about it before doing anything.

My wifi is a standard .11g router with WEP encryption (64-bit ascii key).

Anyone else come across this problem?

Thanks in advance,

L

I am running WM6 & Pocket Plus & not having any issues with my wifi. The only thing that I can think of to make sure your CPU speed is set to auto.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, my cpu is set to auto.

Do you leave your wifi on all the time?

hat's what I'd like to do when I'm in the house...

Ta,

L

Starting up with wifi on means that your ax looks for the network connection, and tries to connect. Thus using memory from the moment you press the on switch, also if you have anything like an rss reader that is set to update when a connection is detected this will also start and use memory, thus slowing the process!

I would look at removing the various WiFi connections you have accessed at the end of each day. I found the start up time to be significantly degraded by not doing the. Once I keep my connections listing to just my current connection the connect speed is no more than 2-3 seconds.

thanks for the input. I figured it was the wifi logging in that was the problem; just wish it didn't slow the whole GUI down while it hunts. Ah well...
On a side note - disabling the "device lock/password" has REALLY sped up my axim... has anyone successfully used a 3rd-party password software?

Cheers, L

I found the exact same thing and don't lock mine anymore because of the problem. I'm wondering also if there is better password software.
