WM6 51v Password screen in Cradle

Has anyone heard of a fix for the problem of the Password screen coming on when an upgraded 51v w/WM6 (Football) is sitting in the cradle? I'm asking for a friend because I would never do anything like this myself. It's not legal...

Change the password settings.

My friend says, I tried to do that but the "lock" setting would not open the settings. Now it does but it appears that if you set the time out to be 0, the password screen will come up after 1 minute IF you are turned on and in the cradle. Setting it for a large number like 12 hours seems to work but not the best solution. Sounds like a bug to me...
