[X50v] How to go from WM2003 A01 to latest WM6?
Hi there,

I'm new to the forums and I'm wanting to flash my buddy's X50v to WM6 however he's still got the original OS that came loaded with it (WM2003 A01). Can someone help me out and let me know which steps I have to follow to get to WM6? I understand I have to install WM5 first??

If I understand correctly (I have an X51V), you need to upgrade to the latest Dell rom first--so you'd need to update to WM5 and then flash it to the A02 revision before flashing to WM6

how do I get the latest Dell rom? I can't seem to find it on the Dell site

I'm pretty sure you can't install that link when your OS is 2003.
I believe you needed to buy wm5 update for the x50.

Perhaps Dell has dropped all Axim support files? My x50v is WM2003se with ROM version A05, which I believe I updated sometime last year?

There we ways of taking your X50V to WM6... I have gone from WM2003SE to WM5 to WM6.
I really did give WM5 and 6 a go for quite Some time and actually believed it was working

But the gradual slowdown, having to constantly clean out your main Memory to avoid the filesys at max for 10 minutes a day really makes a device that is a pretty powerful tool to an annoying gadget.

Now I am back with WM2003SE and have been since trying the latest WM6 with 0, 4 and 8 page pool. . .

The device now responds instantly even after being off all night, it syncs instantly, file/programs open when you click not 5 /10 secs later.

With Wisbar , pocket-plus ,OZbt and the Black glow Vista theme my x50V looks and runs far faster better than it ever did on WM5 or 6

I now actually use my Axim like I did when I first bought it.
