Need some ROM input

I'm currently using the football WM6 and it's fine; well it's great! I'm toying with the idea of going WM 6.1 but I have some questions. First of all, what are the advantages people are experiencing with WM 6.1 over WM 6? Is there any concrete reason why I should bother going through the trouble of flashing a new ROM and reinstalling programs/reconfiguring my Axim? Second, What are the differences that people have experienced between the LennySH and the makku WM 6.1?

Thanks:approve:

I was on Lennys WM 6.1 and went back to his WM6 for the applications he included in that particular ROM release. The difference between WM6 and WM6.1 were mostly in the phone areas as has been described to me. The value for a PPC (in my case X51V) are not worth upgrading IMHO. I was unable to experience a difference in speed nor battery length with the testing I did. I made my decision by testing both releases and made the decision based upon my specific use of my X51V. Both ROM releases are a great improvement over WM5 at any level of Dells release.

M17 is still a WM5 ROM. The improvements to WM6or WM6.1 are speed and I mean significant speed and then stability. Beyond that there are newer standard applications included in the standard WM6 ROM that are not available in WM5. :approve:

I have been using Football's WM6 A03 Preview on my X51V since its release. I was intending to upgrade to the RTM version at a later date, but at the time there seemed to be a flurry of troubleshooting and changes going on an I decided that since everything that was critical to me was functioning, that I would keep using the Preview release until it seemed the dust had settled.

Fast-forward until now and I finally got back to checking out the existence of the WM6.1 versions on XDA-Dev. Of course I see there is two different versions of WM6.1 Classic currently being made available. Lennysh and Makuu.

Anyone have any insight what differences exist between these two? I have pretty straight-forward uses for my Axim and do value stability over all other things as it is a business tool and not so much an entertainment toy.

Any opinions as to whether it is worth installing one of these ROMs or is it too early in their development cycle? I am not much for wiping out and reconfiguring my device repeatedly, which is the other reason why I never upgraded from Football's A03 Preview.

One annoyance with the Football release was the password feature that would always return you to the Today menu, instead of the last open application. I have read that the Lennysh distro resolves this issue.

Any thoughts and opinions are a appreciated.

I have tried both on my spare X51V. Both work fine and are fast and stable. For me the differences were in what was included with each of the different authors ROMs. I would suggest you try each one to confirm which additions you like the best. As for me I am currently running (fully testing) LennySH's ROM WM6.1 A07 release on my spare unit. My daily unit is still running WM6 A04 because I just have not made my mind up yet at to which WM6.1 to move to use on a daily basis. :approve:
