Question X51V Modem Settings with WM6.1

Hi all,

I've come across a slightly frustrating quirk in WM6.1 that I'm hoping someone on here can help me with.

In WM5, when I set a modem connection, under the Advanced settings I had the ability to add "extra dial-string commands" - I needed that to get the Ax accessing the internet via my mobile (Samsung D840 on Vodafone) using bluetooth.

However using WM6.1, I can't find out where to put these extra dial-string commands - can anybody help?

Thanks in advance,

Leigh

Never mind - Google has been my friend.

Through the use of the modemis.exe file, the extra dial string commands are added to the registry.

Glad you found your answer. I started to play around with mine after reading your post yesterday and hosed up my pda so bad I had to hard reset! and I never did find out how to set that. So I learned two things yesterday, 1. make a backup (already knew that but got lazy) and 2. now know how to make modem settings. :approve:

Hello!
I have the same problem...I upgraded my x51v to WM6.1, especially to be able to use SDHC cards.

But now I cant get my internet connection to work, because of the missing modem command on WM6. On WM5 I had to dial (with my Razr V3x) *99#, entered my infos user+PW and domain, after that I had to set the Baudrate to max and enter the modem command +cgatt=0
But unfortunately this doesnt work on WM6, I found the program ModemIS.exe which should (maybe, dunno :D) solve the problem, but I dont know how to use it!
Can someone help me?

Hello again...I found a solution myself. I tried the way with modemis.exe, but I haven't found any site to see how to use the program. Finally I found my solution here, in the last comment.

And it was really easy.

1. I set up a new modem connection, with the number I want to dial (mine *99# , dunno if this step is important, but I thought it would be better to sure have an registry entry for this connection)

2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\DRIVERS\Unimodem\Init

3. Right-click value 1 and select Edit (the value was before only AT< cr > without the spaces)

4. Change value data to :
AT+CGDCONT =1,"IP","websfr" (this is the information from the link above, in my case I entered the Username,PW and Domain already, so I thought I can skip this "IP","websfr" thing websfr is the APN. I only entered AT+cgatt=0< cr > without the spaces)

5. Softreset

And it worked for me :approve:

i am having a similar problem. iPaq 211 bluetooth modem to my blackberry 8120(tmobile usa). i have done a bunch of looking and it seems the "extra initialization" commands have been removed from wm6. without them you cannot successfully connect the 211 to your gprs provider. i spent 3 hours on the phone with tmobile and got no answers. google returns a search result that you have to edit a registry setting hklm/drivers/unimodem/init add a 3rd string (or edit the 1st one) there called 3 and enter the "extra initialization" commands there, soft reset and it will work. other people have done this and successfully connected but for what ever reason mine wont. i too would love to see a fix for this issue and see what others have been doing to get this to work.
