Which Version ROM Do I Need to Recover

This is a follow on from here.

Because I can get to the SD Image loader screen, I thought I'd try following this thread to see if I can un-brick it. But I think I need to know what model I have.

After much searching, on Dell's site/forums, I eventually found a copy of the A12 ROM. I would have thought it would have been easier to find. But, there are 2 versions, depending on the model.

But, as I don't know what model I have, how do I know which file to use.

Should I even be using this level, or should I re-load an earlier one, and then upgrade to this.

Next, I'm not sure I understand about the aku 2.3.1 and aku 1.1 issue. If I'm reading it correctly, I set the length of the .nb0 file for one of those. If it works, I picked the right one. If not, I start again, using the other length. Is that correct. Or does the version tie to a particular ROM level.

Cheers,
Eddie

The front plate says "x51".

The label inside the battery compartment says "x51/x51v" and "A02", which I understand is the hardware revision.

Cheers,
Eddie

You need the non-V version. Grab the A12 rom from dell and download the updated version of http://www.aximsite.com/boards/x50-x...-tutorial.html. Run the img file through the UPDATED version of the program that automatically finds the length for you.

I have an Axim x51v I bought second-hand, which came with a GPS and presentation package (the original owner got the whole thing as a package from Dell).
It has (before I installed anything, and I did a hard reset before doing anything) in Settings -> System an icon for GPS.
Is this on all x51vs or just the ones Dell sold with the GPS package?
Or, do all the ROMs on the Dell site for x51v include this?
The only x51v ROM I found (I believe it is A12) is R129272.exe.

[I want to get this before Dell strips out all Axim content, just in case, since I plan on having this x51v as long as I had my X5 (which was 4 years 10 months).]
