A01 for X51v: Which ROM do I need to upgrade to?

Hi, I've owned a X50 and an X51v, both of which were stolen. A few weeks ago I bought another X51v off ebay.

However, I noticed that the pda is somewhat old and the owner doesn't seem to have updated the ROM. The PDA says it is A01. I would like to do that first before installing any software.

After I fed Dell the service tag number, it showed I only needed to download two or three things, none of which were ROM updates. One was 309 KB, and the other was 142 K. I'm guessing that the Dell site was supposed to recommend a ROM upgrade but didn't. (They have a hardware detect utility which apparently did not detect the PDA.

Can you recommend a solution? I.E. Which ROM should I download? And how can I make my Dell account be aware of which ROM I have (so I can see associated drivers and downloads for it). I've noticed that the A01 seems to work not too well. Wifi turns on randomly, and the battery gets hot.

Thanks for your help.

You might try this thread for some info. My x51v came with A12, so I don't know if you can jump from A01 to A12 or not.

You can jump from A01 to A12 using the files from the Dell update site. In addition to there being a WM5 A12 update there are also WM6 ans WM6.1 ROM flashing files that can be found on the internet with a simple Google search. No matter which you choose to do make sure you back up your pim data onto your PC prior to doing the upgrade (would also suggest you do the same to a SD card) and read everything you can find on the process required to do your upgrade, update or ROM flashing. I have done them all and no issues as long as you follow the instructions and you have a X51V unit.
