Aximsitewifiicon Another wireless router issue thread...

Okay I'm ripping my hair out... read as much as I can read, including a guide made here on this website, and am losing it ;)...

I got a Netgear WPN824v3 router yesterday. Installation was easy. The hardest part is getting my Axim to connect to the site.

The good thing is, the Axim sees the site. The problem is, my site has a "lock" above it, when I have disabled all security settings (for now). And when I go to Settings in the WLAN utility, tap Connect with my site, it says Connecting, but then decides to try another site to connect to, and succeeds in the end.

Help... :bang:

One of the most common problems is that the router needs to be set to mixed mode. ie: both b and g
The Axim will only connect to b.
Also, try turning the router off or move out of range and remove the settings from the Ax and then let it connect again.

Yes, removing the settings always seems to help even on the x50.

Do this:

Tap setting in the Dell WLAN Utility Box.

Tap and hold on your router name and choose remove. Or better yet clean it all out.

If the above (excellent) suggestions don't work, try changing the broadcasting channel on the router.

...and if that doesn't work, look at the Check these first part of the Troubleshooting section of the WiFi Guide. I think all of the above suggestions are listed there as well as a few others.

You can also set the router in G-only mode and tweak the PDA to say it is G. I believe that Tweaks2k2.net (and perhaps others) provides this tweak.

JohnDoe, your advice above - are you saying it is more secure that way?

Everything seems to be working fine, but I am wondering why my site shows up in the list of sites, even though it supposedly shouldn't be broadcasted? (I turned SSID broadcast off)
Is that normal?

The list shows all the sites in range that are broadcasting plus all the sites you've connected to.
