Axim X50v freezing on hard reset

Recently bought an X50 off ebay and after a short time it began crashing so I had to soft reset all the time, then it began freezing towards the end of a soft reset so I had to do a hard reset now its just freezing near the end of the hard reset meaning that I cant access the device at all.

Anyone know what could be causing this? Is it a hardware (memory?) issue or is it simply a software problem. I wouldnt mind completely formatting it if it came to that as there is nothing of mine on it yet.

Any help appreciated

Its running WM5 btw

First - Welcome to Aximsite.

Second - I'd suggest removing the battery for about an hour, replace it, then see what happens. :exc:

Welcome to the site. :approve:

Probably a stupid suggestion but are you sure that you are not turning the lock switch (top left hand side) on and off - removing the axim from a case perhaps. It is very easily done.

kcallahan- tried that last night, still no joy I'm afraid

davrol- the lock is definitely not on, its not that the device isnt responding to key presses its simply locking up during a hard reset so I cant access it at all.

Thank you both for replying

Your thread title says x50v but your message says x50.

If you have WM5 on an x50, that might be the issue. :(

Possibly make sure you have the unit plugged into the mains when resetting. Some units don't reset well under battery power only.

It's obviously beyond my understanding. :(

Take a look at this link and see if anything there might help: Easier way to recover your X50 after you bricked it+premade nb0 files

If not, send a PM to Steven855. He may not have seen your post and might have an answer for you. :)

I agree with kcallahan, there is some serious bad mojo going on with your device. I think at this point, if it won;t hard reset, you need to treat it as bricked and go from there. It seems to me the ROM itself has been corrupted, or there is a physical problem with the memory. Either way, it is time for drastic measures.

Sorry for the long delay been rather busy lately.

In the end I re-flashed the device with a WM6 rom I found on one of the cards.

Everything seems to be working fine since, its even a little faster.

Thanks for everyones contribution. :)
