Maximum limit on regular SD cards

I have PNY 2G SD Card and works OK with X51V. Added 4G PNY SD(HC) Card but the Axim wont recognize that it is there. Dell saying that its not capable of anythig above 2G. Is there any driver that will allow me to use this card or should I be looking for a different standard that will allow above 2G SD?

X51V with WM6 recognizes 8GB SD. About to purchase 16GB.
