Hello, sorry if this has been asked before, tried using the search button but couldn't find the answer i am looking for.
When i go into system info i get ROM version A06 (12190500) but when i look under the battery it says A01 why the difference?
2nd question, i got x51v and i want to upgrade to wm6 but i keep seeing different version of A0X where X= 1, 3, 5, 7 or 8...which one do i use? Do i have to use the same one that correspond to the same ROM version i got or A01 under the battery?
Hi Shakaar
Icant help u with the first question.
The second one is about ROM versions. Its like some improvments are made to previously rom and a new one come with a new number. So A05 is newest than A04 and so on.
The big quest u will face with is the Releaser of the rom. Like Lennys, Football and others. But keep in mind u can try all, but just keep the version that u will realy need. If u have problems with wifi in A04 than try the A08. Your software is not working anymore than back to A06. Maybe the last release could not be the best for u. You know what i mean?
The number listed under the battery is the hardware version (not the ROM).
I'm not familar with the WM6 but the versions you see are most likely what the installation files will add to the device so it has nothing to do with what is already on your Axim (that is, WM5, ROM A06 will be replaced by whichever ROM you chose of WM6). Also, the hardware version listed under the battery is unlikely to affect which ROM you can install.

If you are going to do a ROM upgrade to WM6 or WM6.1 just make sure that the file you download contains your model number listed within its file name. Second, any ROM upgrade that is WM6 or WM6.1 have not been issued by Dell and will void any warranty what remains on your unit. Third the upgrade will remove your original OS and any data you have put onto your unit, so make sure and do a backup and a sync prior to starting. Fourth, read all you can about the ROM upgrade process, which is actually very simple as processes go. Last, remember that these ROMs for WM6 and WM6.1 are put out on the internet with no guarantee from the authors so there could be and have been issues for some based upon the additional applications they add to the upgraded unit. From my personal experience it was a great improvement in speed and stability when I went to WM6 from LennySH's web site. I have tried additional ROMs from him at a WM6.1 level and did not like any of them so have stayed with the WM6 level.
The A0x versions differ from developer to developer.
You would be better off looking at your 'build' version number (example WM6.1 Classic Version build 5.2.19199 (build 19199) ) as that's the OS build itself!
