So I have come across Makku, LennySh & Football's WM6.1 ROMs.
From what I can tell it seems Football's is roughly the same as Lenny's bare/dell versions. It also appears that Makku's version hasn't been updated in some time so it is a much older build and that Lenny's A07 is the same build as Football's A05. The last versions from Lenny and Football that are stable are their A07 builds, with Footballs being a later MSWM6.1 build. I also believe I read somewhere that Football's last two builds were significantly faster and Lenny's next build will be as well.
I just installed Football's and I am sad to find that his doesn't have WPA2 support. Does anyone know if any of the builds out there have WPA2 support?
I see on the thread with Makku's build that his has TrueVGA because he has OzVGA installed but he also references "True WM6.1 VGA drivers". Wouldn't all three technically have true WM6.1 VGA drivers since they are x51v WM6.1 ROMS? Meaning that if I install OzVGA on any of them, I can get/use true VGA?
I guess all of the excess verbiage above is just a long winded way of saying:
1. What are your experiences with the various builds?
2. Do any of the builds support WPA2
3. Which builds fully support VGA and what do I need to make sure it works?
My experience with WM6 and WM6.1 are very positive. All of them are faster than WM5 every was and more stable. I am currently with Wm6 from LennySH. It has a VGA mode for PIE. Not all applications from WM5 work with WM6 ROMs and not all WM6 phone release applications work with WM6 on the X51V. Since these are individuals that are developing the ROMs what you get is what you get. I suggest you tinker with the released by doing an ugrade to them with the full understanding that some have bricked their unit by using the wrong ROM for their model Axim. Read fully about the ROM your going to upgrade to by reading posts from that site where the download is coming from first. If you still have more questions go straight to the author and my experience is they are more than willing to help you out. Be sure and do a backup of information prior to starting since the ROM update process with totally wipe everything from your unit. My personal experience has been very positive and I would not go back. At this point I am quite content with WM6.
I've used all the above ROM's and I only use my x51v in TrueVGA mode.
To make your x51v work in TrueVGA mode you need to load some extra dll's and other files so that you can see the icons and display the control panel applets correctly. I put a package together to do this for me a couple of years ago, link is below.
Football's latest doesn't work well in TrueVGA mode, it has a corruption on the today screen.
Makuu's ROM is great as it has TrueVGA built in, but I found that Acrobat Reader would not work properly with this ROM. This is a deal breaker for me as I read lots of PDF's and find Adobe's the best reader for me.
LennySh's ROM is the one I am currently using and works the best for me in TrueVGA mode. I haven't tried WPA2, so can't comment on this working or not.
Cheers
Mark

I'm probably not much help since I don't know what wap2 is and I don't use more than whatever the basic, built in vga is. That being said though, I have been using one of Lenny's roms lately and I have been very happy with it. The speed boosts over 5 have been more than I expected. (Not hard since I wasn't expecting any, but surprising.) Also, I LOVE having a 16gb sdhc card in my axim.
Try the LennySH Edition of A07. Wifi works fine on my X51v using it. That was one of the first things I tried.

Lenny is working on a new 09 version of WM6.1 and so far the beta I have been testing works great. Much improved over the 07 or 08 version of WM6.1.
Will it be a non beta ROM? I have been waiting for him to come up with something that he doesn't consider beta before I go through the trouble of a hard reset.

At this point he has not released it to the site only to his beta testers. The 08 beta release to the site for testing was so bad hes decided not to release until a good deal of testing has been completed. Most of the testing he is doing himself. :approve:

He cancelled A09 and is working on A10 since he came across the latest WM6.1 build. His words on the build were:
"I will be skipping this release and work on A10 since I just got my hands on the latest/newest build of WM6.1. Everything works, except IRDA to my knowledge."

It is publicly available for download, he just never gave it a dedicated thread because he stopped work on it. It was last compiled on 6/21/08

A08 was also publicly released for download but only in the BareBones Edition and the Stock Dell Edition, however he recommended against using it and suggested A07 instead. Football's A08 was plagued with similar issues.
1. No it has been cancelled. Cancelled while in beta? Yes. Still in beta? No, it has been cancelled.
2. Your words were "at this point" implying at the time of your post which is not the same as "when he sent it to me". It was available before "at this point", right?
3. If you read my response it wasn't whether or not it was bad. You falsely stated that it was not released thus not available. However it was released and is STILL available, albeit bad as both you and I had already agreed on.
