Decided to Paint My Axim X50v
I've come to realization that I can't leave anything alone for any amount of time, and in that frame of thought I decided to paint my Dell Axim X50v to match my other devices..might not be anyone's cup of tea, but I think it turned out ok..Sorry about the quality of the pics I need a new digicam..Gonna be flashing the new 6.1 A09 beta here soon wish me luck...

Looks pretty good.

Did you take it apart to paint the frame or did you just tape everything up.

I can't tell what color you painted it. What kind of paint did you use? Are you happy with how it turned out, because I think it's a cool idea.

I thought so. I like the idea but don't really want to take mine apart.

I painted it with gloss black engine paint I know, I know you can hear banjos in the background, but it works pretty well. Ive had good experience with it painting plastic and metal parts compared to the Krylon paint thats made for plastics and Testor's model paint, they just don't seem as durable. I did 3 coats black paint, and one coat of Krylon triple clear on top to protect the paint from chipping and make it look extra glossy. I used those because they just happened to be around the house and I was in the mood.

I am very happy with it, my Eee Pc and cellphone are also black (no, I didn't paint those). Initially, I tried to mask it with tape and paint it, because I was afraid to take it apart, but I missed a fraction of an inch on the edges, and I was very cautious about getting any on the screen so I took it apart to get the parts I missed. It's easier than I thought just a few t security screws on the back and the front face pulls off.

I can understand your reservations my x50v is my baby and I was nervous the entire time. Still have to tape off the bottom part where the x50v logo part is and its a weird shape but nothing tooooo terrible as long as your careful..

I use mine for work everyday. If it goes down, I'm stuck until I can replace it. It's one thing if it breaks on its own, but, if I'm doing something that's not necessary, it's on me.

Thats cool. I have thought about doing this. I wish the case was aluminum though, because I would rather just scrape the paint off and have polished metal. Now that would look good.

Thanks for the painting idea.
Thanks for the idea. My husband paints rifle stocks so I had him do my Axim. He used an airbrush with duracoat paint.

I am with you, in fact I actually have a second X51V sitting on the shelf with its ROM flashed to match my daily unit. My PocketPC is never away from an arms reach from me at any time during the day or night. My wife keeps asking my X51V how my husbands brain is today LOL.

That looks really good Austin, pretty crazy color for a rifle stock I would think though I didn't even think of airbrushing it, I have a small kit that I might try out next time, and use some black pearl automotive type paint.

The blue paint was for a rifle stock painted red. white, and blue for a July 4th match. The more hardner you put in it, the glossier the paint will be.
