Axim X51v automatically disconnects while still in cradle
Hello everyone,
I have a Axim X51v..no problems for the first year, lately when I set it in the cradle, Activesync connects, it syncs fine, then a minute or two later, I hear the windows default sound of a USB disconnecting and Activesync shows NOT CONNECTED.. at that point the Axim is locked up, I remove it from the cradle, take out the battery for a second, replace it then reboot pda...
Has anyone got a clue, where my problem might be ?

I would do a soft reset on the Axim and the same on your computer and try it again. If that fails to fix the issue I would uninstall ActiveSync and reinstall it making sure you have the latest revision of this application. Should that fail then it would be time to do a hard reset on the Axim to remove any and all remaining issues with syncing. Be aware though that this will remove all of your personal data, settings and any applications you have loaded or revised. After the hard rest has been performed your Axim will be back to its original ROM settings.
Thank you for your response to my question.. I did all that you listed in that order and the same problem re-occurs after each step... I did a soft reset on the PDA first as well as the PC, uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of ActiveSync that I have 4.5.0..when that didn't work, transferred all my data to an SD card, I did a hard reset on the PDA...reinstalled all of the programs via the cradle as fast as I could before it disconnected again and checked the data, everything looked normal again, so I placed it in the cradle again, allowed it to began the sync process once more, completed that and looked like it was a fix then about 5 minutes later, I heard the USB disconnect sound again and looked down to see the ActiveSync icon grayed out and showing not connected.....
Do you think I might have a problem with the cradle since all the other steps were taken as you suggested ?
No one knows why Activesync sucks so bad. Not even the folks at Microsoft,(I asked them)
Anyway long time Aximsite Memeber EngrPaul did the most exhaustive research into the subject in this thread and still didn't really find an easy solution. All kinds of things can cause problems with Activesync.

I also am having the same problem. My solution is to take the battery each disconnect.
My question to you is what windows version are you using, I have XP SP2
