My wife washed my shirt today and I had left my extended battery in the front pocket. It went through the wash and the dryer-out of curiousity I put it in my cradle and it charged ok, turned it on in the axim for a second and it seemed to power on ok, should I toss this and get another extended battery. I'm concerned about it messing up my axim short circuit or blowing up lol. Thanks in advance.
So I gues it's nice and clean now:)
Sorry, I had too. Speaking as an electrical engineer with years of experience, I would say that if it still works and still holds a charge than it is good. These thing are sealed real well and I doubt water got in. The only problem is maybe it got knocked around enough to cause structural damage so that It could leak like you said. It went through the dryer, so heat might have cause some stress. If you keep it in the craddle for a few hours or better yet days, I personally would feel VERY safe with using it.
Edit:I was think of this as just a battery but now I recal that it has some kind of current limiting circuit built in, so I can't be as sure. Maybe some one else can give advise, but if it powered up the axim and is runnig good now I would feel safe with it
I've had this happen to other rechargable batteries and never had any problems. Just make sure it's totally dry and there are no dents in the casing.

You will notice a few things if it were actually bad.
The battery gets hot (hotter than normal)
The battery case swells, bulges, or leaks
The battery will not hold a charge
The battery will not charge
If you have none of these, donate some cash to a local charity.

I think what you have right now is a ticking timebomb.
Every rechargable lithium battery has an internal circuitboard that monitors the charge and discharge currents & temp of the cell(s). If your battery went through the wash, that board is probably slowly corroding and may either cause the cell(s) to short or fail to protect your device in other ways.
Personally, I would open the battery (plastic) case and clean the small protection baord - but that's me. If you can't do that, I would be very careful when the unit is in the charger as it's slowly becoming a fire hazard.
And as having worked in the electronics field for over 40 years and with a company for 32 years that manufactures those small consumer devices called cellphones that use LiIon batteries extensively, I know what I'm talking about.
