Memory error and data lose with the X50v

I have an X50v which I have replaced the main battery and I am still getting the Memory error which is not that big of a deal but what concerns me is that if I leave it sit for a few days without being on a charger I loose all of my data and I have to set it up again from scratch. Is this a known issue? Why do I loose all data when the battery dies, does it not have a memory?

With wm2003 the operating system needs power to keep it going. no power= no memory.

wm5 changed this, so devices were slower but no reset when the power runs out

So how long should a battery last if the unit is powered off and is just sitting? It seems like mine is dead in one day even when not in use.

My wife has an older Toshiba which is slower but she doesn't loose data if it sits for a weak without a charged battery.

A couple of days isn't that unusual... and it depends of if any alarms or anything wakes it up. (slower processors use less power, and the axim is a rather thirsty beast)

What would wake it up other than reminders set in outlook?

It wakes up every night at midnight to clean up alarms. If you have anything running in the background, that will then delay it from shutting down promptly after the alarm clean up process. GPS, media players, activesync are three known cause for it to stay awake. There are more.

So basically what you are telling me is that it needs to be plugged in 24/7 or I will loose my data everytime the battery dies. I think I am going to sell it and buy an old toshiba like my wifes...........
All we use them for is to sync our schedules, contacts and tasks!

Not 24/7, just don't leave it lying around unplugged for days. I kept mine in the cradle all the time when I was not actually carrying it. That practice is good for the LiIon battery, too.
