Good thinking, yes it's in there.
OK - got an answer - I thot I had Power Management turned off... and it wasn't! As far as I can tell, it wouldn't go because I had the Axim set to turn off in 5 minutes!
But... it won't "update" my ROM because I already have it (A05). Guess I'll try to go to WM5 then...

As mention before, a lot of Axim x50v user having hang at 80% boot screen after upgrade to WM5. I'm one of the victim
Therefore I suggest you to keep your Axim with WM2k3 by flash your OS using the SD Image Update and then select the DiMa_K_A05_X50v_WM2k3_ENG.nb0 (not the bootloader "DiMa_K_***"). Basically the SD Image Update will flashing the OS of the image file to your Axim regardless what OS currently installed.
If you got the Dell WM5 updater, then you might update your Axim to WM5 and then perform update to WM5 A02 follow by update it to WM6. DON'T use the SD Image Update your Axim from WM2k3 to WM5 because you need to flash the WM5 bootloader first, this might brick your Axim. It is much safer to upgrade your Axim from WM2k3 to WM5 by using Dell updater.
Hi, I was busy for the past few days.
@colalee, you actually do not need Activesync to put the two files on your SD card. Most new computers have built-in card readers.
@Mirthrindir, I am waiting to see if you successfully flashed your ROM.
Yes, I'm already put the OS image files in the root of my SD card. First I thought you means put the image files to the RAM/ROM of the Axim
@Mirthrindir, so I'm assuming you have your problem solved? Next time, please start a new thread for your question. Btw, of course, you cannot reflash the same version of the ROM. You can only hard reset.
@colalee, I have no idea how the bootloader operates. The first time I ever tried to update, it seems that the bootloader WILL NOT read my SD card. So I added the two ROM files to the ROM of my Axim after a hard reset. That seemed to do the trick. I originally learned that the bootloader only reads from the SD, I guess it also reads from the ROM.
@At both, tell me your status of the problem (Is it fixed or not, I'm having hard time deciding).

Hey. Yeah, sorry if I hijacked this thread - I thought that colalee was done, and we seemed to have a similar problem.
As far as the problem - no, not fixed. I'll start a new thread.

I don't really get your point "So I added the two ROM files to the ROM of my Axim after a hard reset. ". is it putting the ROM files to the root of the SD card?
OK - I'm a flasher. I got the Dell WM50 A01 update, via Desktop. Worked like a charm.
Key points I missed -
- Dell Desktop update - you have to turn all Power Management OFF (as in, turn Axim off after 3 minutes of inactivity, under Power settings).
- SD Update - HOLD the two buttons after you hit reset 2-3 times, until the SD Flash screen appears.
Now - I went ahead and attempted to flash WM6.1... unaware that you have to have WM5 A02 first. I flashed, hard reset, loaded to 80% and stopped.
FIX ? - pulled SD card (while Axim still on), put on WM50 A01 files, deleted WM61 files (or SD loader wouldn't see the WM50), inserted SD into Axim, Power+WiFi+reset - and it's (hopefully) reflashing as I type.
Update - Nope. Some guy posted a x50 rom on a thread about the x50v, replying to a request for the x50v ROM - why?? ... "oops".
Hopefully haven't destroyed my Axim. Got to stay alert all the time...
SO - to go to WM61, I need WM50 A02 or higher - it has a different bootloader from A01 (crazy).
I cannot find it ANYwhere. Could somebody link me?
Obviously it is A03.
You have to do WM2003SE to A01 first!
So - if you're stuck at 80%, this might fix it; it did me.
- reformatted the SD card, so all was clean
- put on the two A03 files
- put SD in Axim
- Power+WiFi & reset (held two buttons until SD screen appeared)
- press center button twice - it reflashed
- I hard reset
-- up & running!
btw, it always slows down at 80% for me, but then slowly moves on.
Update - my Axim died in its sleep. Beware ROM Flashing.
I did the LennySh upgrade. It worked fine for a little while - I used it a few days over 2-3 wks. of time. Now it essentially dead. It sometimes boots after mutliple resets, but freezes most of the time at ~30% reboot. If if does boot, when I try to use it, it freezes.
To be fair, my Axim seemed to have issues before I flashed it, that's why I risked it. But it's far worse now; useless.
However, I am not alone. I have seen similar problems in multiple posts like this -
Oh this thread is pretty old. Lenny's A09 (I think) is the newest one right now. Wait till L11. Give that a try. If it is useless, flashing won't hurt.
