I want to upgrade to WM6 and i have been looking for ways to do it safely and I found the youtube video made by drakey83 about getting WM6 a Dell Axim X51v(YouTube - Dell AXIM X51V/X50V WM6 Update Guide NOT FOR X50 OR X51!) I have have an X51v and i want to know that if i do everything that he does, then it will for for me. Thanks.
It will work for you. I would also recommend you read the sticky note on this web site on doing ROM flash (which is what the process is in the UTube). Just make sure that the ROM file name contains the unit number of your PDA. :approve:
As a beta tester for several ROM makers I have done the ROM flashing process over 25 times to my X51V with no issues to the unit. Improved available ROMs from the internet at a WM6 or WM6.1 level have improved my X51V to the current level of any current model thats available to purchase. Great speed, stability and battery life! :approve:
If your interested in LennySHs latest L11 WM6.1 ROM you can find it here -
Yep. Will Flash L11 when I have time.
Dont worry. I flashed my Axim over 30 times. Only had 10 bricks. Hehe. Am I scaring you?

Its for X51v only. If you're upgrading from 2003 or wm5 a01 please do your research beforehand.. I have flashed 5 devices, including my nec 900c with no problems, I've flashed my x50v 6x, will be 7 when L11 comes out for the X50v, main thing is make sure to get the right version, and don't run out of power when its flashing. easy stuff.
Is there a flash rom for WM5 A12, so I have a backup of the one that I have on my Dell Axim X51v? Or is there a way to make a flash rom of your own WM5? I hope this question is allowed. No offense to anyone. I just do not like not having a backup plan...just in case.
The other times I flash rom'ed the other X51v's, they were not my own and their own WM5 wouldn't start. It was a last resort.

Thank you.
Yes there is one I found on the internet at xda-developers. There is also the original Dell release file. :approve:
Yes there is a way to flash back to A12. I believe the link for A12 is on this site. But. . . why would any one want to? I have never wanted or desired flash backs! PTSD is not my thing. A12 was a bad experience and I have no desire to re-live it. A small trauma to be sure but it did cause a few night mares and sleepless evenings for me. WM6.1 is good therapy for x51V users.

1) What is your units model number (example X51V, X50V, X51, X50).
2) What upgrade revision did you download and try (example WM5 A12, WM6.1 L11 Lennys)
3) Was your unit in the cradle or did you just use your battery alone
4) Did you try removing all external memory cards prior to doing a hard reset (SD or CF doesnt matter)
5) What was the process you used for the upgrade (be specific)
If we do not have some minimal information its hard to attempt to help. :approve:
