need to replace the headphone jack!!!

well i broke it and now speakers won't work or headphones D: and i was wondering if it is easy to replace. I really don't want to pay too much to fix it, so is it easy to repair, where would i find a replacement jack, and where is the cheapest place that would fix it for me? because i can't seem to find this one screw on my axim... don't tell me its under the pads. Der of course i know that.

I see that you already got a response to this in another post. However, have you tried spraying a little WD 40 on the jack plug and then inserting it into the jack socket and pulling it out and re-inserting it several times.

May not work but it is easy to do and worth a try.

I think WD-40 will kill it. I was thinking of using a little aluminum foil. Make it into a little tube and line it into the jack. It would make it more conductive.

It would also short out the contacts.

We're not talking about wetting it down. A little WD-40 will clean the dirt off the contacts. I agree with box, shorting the contacts to ground wouldn't be a real good idea. :(

Unfortunately these subminiature jacks break too easily. That's why I've rarely used mine. :)

I think we agree that a little more information from the OP might help answer the question.

I guess it depends on what Mudrock1000 wants to do.

alright EVERYONE FOCUS ON THE TO-ooh a fly :D...anyway shenan..shana...shinanigans???? (wtf) aside Yes i do NOT want to destroy it and can we focus on the topic at hand. I can't even get headphones to stay in it. it doesn't snap really into place, just kinda slides when i put headphones in. I think there is a ring there that holds them , and that seems to be split in half D: Anyway i also can't seem to find just this one screw on my axim, its like not there, don't tell me under the pads, because i tore the pads straight off and all there is is this white thing. Ill post pics in the morning so you can see what i mean, because im positive this is not normal.

The white thing is Dell's tamper seal. The screw is under it
Use your fingernail to crack open the case - slide it slowly around the edge.

that is the main issue with analog connections and headphone jacks are analog. consider using a digital connection such as bluetooth headphones and a few of them are cheaper than sending the axim in to PPCTechs to have the jack repaired and you will also get better sound since its digital rather than analog.

Yeah, Bluetooth headphones would be a better idea than spend the time and maybe $$ for replacing the headphone jack.
