Axim x51v with Skype and Blackberry Curve
Hello!

I have an AXIM x51v with skype installed on the unit over wifi only thing is I have a data plan with the blackberry curve and the curve doesnt allow skype to work for free over the wif network it deducts my minutes from my plan and cost money to use. Any suggestions on how I can use maybe use bluetooth to connect both devices, so I can talk over the wifi ?

I'm still kind of confused. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Axim=Skype with wi-fi only
Blackberry curve=Skype with no wi-fi (It deducts minutes)

So you want to talk on curve but using Axim's Skype?

If that's right, unfortunately, I don't think there is a remote microphone Bluetooth Service. Meaning even if you could pair those two (you can), there still isn't a service that allows you to borrow a microphone.

IMHO, why would you want to carry two devices just to use Skype?

Additonal Information
Ive had the axim in my closet for the past two years, I just recieved the blackberry curve, but when I tried to use two different skype's programs both built for the blackberry, one called iskoot for skype and IM+for skype they both deduct minutes from my cell plan even though I have the unlimited data plan plus Im also billed from skype per minute for using the service from my mobile phone double whammie ouch. So, I thought wouldnt it be cool if I could connect both devices via bluetooth or Infared and use the axim to make calls. I was once told the blackberry uses SIP or something to that nature and the programming is a little differnet from the pocket pC realm. Thanks.
Any ideas???

Heres a suggestion I recieved from a fellow member please add to this with any addtional comments.

The iSkoot service is designed to let you call your Skype contacts (or make international calls at Skype rates) from the cellular network. It's not a VoIP app, but a service to connect your cellphone to Skype.

To use Skype for "free" over WiFi you'll need a Skype client. AFAIK, Skype doesn't make a BB client yet (they do for WinMo phones like the Wing, however.)

Yes you can connect your Ax and your BB together by pairing them via Bluetooth. The Ax can then use your unlimited data plan to surf etc.

However, then Skype gives you a problem.
Skype on the Ax will only work via Wifi and not via the BT connection.
Skype works on devices that have 3G or Wifi but is unable to work through a BT connection.

Hey Box. When you said you can pair Ax and Curve together. I know you can do that. But what Bluetooth service or program would allow Ax to use the Curve's data plan?

Just wondering.

Hi. I do this all the time with my 8830 blackberry (evdo) and x51v. I am only using data which is included with my unlimited data plan and dont use minutes. The skype app I use is the latest from skype themselves and use evdo connection, however I have setup two of my cousins using the curve (edge). The calls are "sometimes" not very clear and laggy, but that only happens 'sometimes'. I strongly suggest an evdo connection.

Nice pictures. I was just reading about EVDO the other day. So you are not using Bluetooth but wireless?

Thanks. I connect the axim via bt to the bb8830 which then acts as a modem. The 8830 does not have wifi capabilities. The pics were just a demo to show that it works for me using bt and evdo modem enabled blackberry.
Now on my cousins curve he uses bluetooth to connect the same way I do except he uses at&t's edge not wifi. I have not succesfully been able to get his blackberry to use the phones wifi feature, just the phones edge.

Ok, I finally gave it a try and it doesn't work for my Blackberry Curve 8320, however, I do see the Services on my Curve as Audio Gateway, Bluetooth Serial Port7 and OBEX Object Push from my Axim X51v. Any other ideas??? Now keep in mind I do have lennys latest rom long with the BroadcomBluetoothStackX51V05 from the sticky.
