At the anythingbutipod.com site, an administrator, dfkt, wrote, “Use this for formatting SD cards: http://panasonic.jp/support/global/c...formatter.html
NEVER format SD cards with the standard Windows formatter.” Link to the page: Do i need to format my new Microsdhc - Sansa e200 Accessories - abi>>forums. Ever hear of this. Sorry, I have been in a coma of sorts for a few years, ya know, the kind caused by work. ![]() | |||||

I have formated using XP for every CF or SD or SDHC card that I have with never an issue. The only ones I do not format with XP are the ones I use on my camera.

I've used the panasonic sd format program before. In the past my 4gb SD wasn't recognized as 4gb by windows (it only shows 1.3gb or something) and formatting it through camera/pc/mac didn't do any help. Somehow I found that program, installed it, formatted it via the program and voila 4gb was available. Besides fixing SD card problems like mine I don't there is a difference between using the program to format or using windows. Just a FYI.

I thought increasing the allocation table when formatting alters the amount of space available to users.
