Worried Is there a solution for a "screen scratch?"

The other day I accidentally scratched the screen on my "new" x51v. I hadn't yet put on a screen protector (don't ask why) and needless to say it upset me a great deal. I thought that there probaby is nothing I can do to eliminate the scratch. The question: Am I wrong? Is there something that I can get and do to retore the screen (I do have a screen protector on now and I can still see the scratch). I suppose I can learn to live with it but if there is an answer, I would like to hear it. Thanks!

Well, you can find someone selling their X50V and if the price is right, buy it and pull out the screen. It's compatible w/ your 51v. Plus, the work to take them apart is easy.

Otherwise, like you said, learn to live with it.

I have never scratched my screen. Take a look at this: Liquid Lense - Eyeglass Scratch Repair. I know it's for glasses, but it also works for most objects.

But a touch screen is not the same as glasses.

Why don't you share with the group just how you scratched your screen. A little more information never hurt.

How I did it.....

I'm not sure that this makes much as to what to do....but I scratched the screen (unintentionally) with the prong from the power plug. I was about to plug it in again...and I heard the scratch....

Well, there's three things you could do.

1) Put a post in the Classifieds selection, and say that you're looking for a new screen. Then you can find a guide on how to take your Axim apart (it's somewhere on here as a post; I think it's a sticky), and swap the screen's...

2) Get PPC Tech's to do it. Now, if you would buy a screen, and ship the screen and PDA to them (if your scared to take your Axim apart), you might be able to talk to them to a lower price... The support there (Sue) is just great! I've worked with them, and I was extremely pleased.
Pocket PC Techs - Repairs for Dell Axim X51v LCD & Touchscreen Assembly Repair Service

3) Buy a PDA that has a faulty motherboard (but the screen works). You see these on the Classifieds section also time to time. You could take that PDA apart, then swap it with your PDA's screen....

It's pretty close on how your would do it on a X51v. It's probably the same thing actually...

There's some ideas for you... :)

Doesn't say that it is just for "glass" glasses--suspect if it'll work on the poly lenses, it may be worth a try on the Axim screen...

I just ordered some for my regular glasses--they're a poly material and I have a couple of nicks caused by thrown gravel...don't ask!

Some of the thicker screen protectors can mask light-medium scratches, I had some circles on my X5 and when I put my Palm screen protector on you couldnt see it at all...

x51 and x51v screens are different, Ive had my axim open before it looks pretty easy
