battery life as MP3 player

If I turn off bluetooth and wifi, and put the screen on full dim, how long can I expect the X51v battery to last while running as an MP3 player through headphones?

It is better to shut the screen off altogether. A small free utility psShutXP can do this. It saves A LOT of power and using your Axim purely as am MP3 player should last at least 100 hours. I have never actually tried it myself so I do not know exactly how long.

Should last a long time, do you have the standard battery? I've used it that way with the extended battery it will last forever..wish the speaker was as good as the one in my phone though.

With full brightness on and a standard 950mAh battery, it will last 6.5 hours.

Take a look here: Battery Drainage Run-Down Information

My guess would be around 7 hours, taking into consideration of x51v and brightness.

If you guys would give me some time, I'll do some testing.

I tried psShutXP, but that doesn't work if the application is running. It works if I minimize the media player, but that isn't an elegant solution. I'd like to see the media player back on immediately if I touch a key.

I guess what I need is a true Windows-like screen saver that completely shuts off the screen after a configurable time.

I already have the native axim/windows power settings, so that the screen backlight goes off after a short while, but the actual screen display is still on. Any other thoughts?

Many players, TCPMP for example, have the option to turn the screen off.

The most I've ever gotten from my x50 was 4 hours with the standard 1100mAh battery.

johnhu_2005, your figures are very optimistic.

I have four 1100mAh batteries, all bought as new.
The best measured capacity has been 795 mAh when used in my X50v down to 0% battery.
Actually it's not really 0% because the X50v has been designed to maintain its memory for a longer period.
Note: The X51 memory works different.

With TCMP I have never experienced more than 5 hours uptime with a new battery.
Today - after 2 years - it's around 2 hours

For your tests try acbPowermeter.

EDIT: I have no figures for the X51v because mine is defect

Arg! Have to redo. In the middle of it, I forgot I had Bluetooth on
It's late tonight. I'm going have to redo it tomorrow. Sorry for the delay :(

I've been using this little piece of freeware called Screen Toggle since my X5 days. Works great with my X50V. I map one of my hardware buttons to this program as I found it to be more convenient than that of Coreplayer or WMP.

I get a solid 3 hours for sure, with the backlight off but the screen on. Anything over that depends on how fresh my charge is, and whether or not I'm doing something else, and whether or not I trigger the backlight on for some reason.

I am running Lenny's A07 rom, and my batteries are over a year and half old. (Both are standard batteries.) Should be noted that I get through a 2 - 2 1/2 hour gym work out with it as an mp3 player, reading using isilo for at least 45 minutes of it with my backlight at half power.

I was wondering the same thing.

If the battery lasts that long - I want one.
