"messaging" will not open ! help!

I can't get my email program on my x50 with WM5 to open at all! I don't have a clue why. I can puch the little envelope button or go to the program and no matter what it won't open. Any help truly appreciated. I read it might be the inbox file. Is there any way someone could upload their's so I could try and swap it in case mine is corrupt or something? Thanks !

First - Welcome to Mobilitysite. Lots of good info and ppl here.

Second - Have you setup your messaging program to receive Email? And/or, have you setup the connections? Also, has it worked since you upgraded to WM5?

Thanks for the welcoming! and yes the email program had been working fine for nearly 2 years with wm5 and I had been using to check 3 different email accounts from time to time. I didn't notice that the program wasn't working until a couple of days after I had to restore my whole axim from a backup file because i had a bad battery that kept dying. (i've got a new battery now so hopefully I won't have to do that often anymore) Every other program I have on it seems to work perfect, is it possible when it backed up my files/programs/settings that it messed up and forgot to save the inbox/messaging. I used file explorer and went in to my windows folder to look and see if inbox.xxx (xxx because I don't actually know the extension off the top of my head) was in the folder at all. It wasn't in the windows folder so I checked the Messaging folder in the windows folder. It wasn't anywhere in there either and the only thing in the messaging folder is a folder called attachments. SO.... could somebody maybe please look around in their's and let me know what I'm missing.... maybe upload or email me the inbox program file or the messaging folder with what it's supposed to have. I'm not really sure what I'm missing at this point, and any help is absolutely appreciated. BTW all the shortcuts are still in the start menu etc. and I've tried soft resets and all that I just think at this point the program somehow dissappeared during a restoration.

Thanks!

I have WM2003 on my AX, so I doubt anything I send you will help. I assume you used the ActiveSync backup program? I've used Spb backup for so long, I'm not sure what all the AS backup does. It should backup everything. You might try restoring it again.

I used the backup on the device to backup to my SD card, the battery died bad one day so I even got a new battery which works way better and restored after all that and the email will not open now.... So I went in on my friends windows mobile verizon phone and was looking through his windows folder and I think the file that might be messed up is the one called "tmail" everything else looked very similar. I tried to copy and paste that file but neither device will let you edit either file so that wouldn't help. I really am stuck now. I don't know of any way to reinstall wm5 and I don't know if i'd want to because I have a ton of cool programs on my ax that I don't know if I still have all the install files for........ maybe I'll try and rerestore it...........

I just looked at mine and I do have Tmail. However, since it is part of the ROM, it can't be copied. I get the error "Executable and resource files in ROM cannot be copied." :(

That would lead me to believe your ROM has lost the file and might need to be reflashed. :exc:

Update - I did a little research and it seems that to clear the Tmail issue you'd have to hard reset your device. However, with an x50, that will take you back to WM2003. Then, you'd have to reinstall WM5. :o

Glad you got it back working. :approve: That happens with backups sometimes. :o

I'd strongly suggest getting something other than the AS backup program. I personally use Spb Backup and have never had a problem. :)
