Largest CompactFlash the x50v will support?

Just curious as I've been away from the community for some time. Grabbed another x50v last night off Craig's List with 2 extended batteries, two cradles, a 1GB SD card, a 256MB CF card, and other assorted goodies for $125. Was planning to slap on Lenny's WM6.1 ROM soon but, considering I've wanted to grab some CF cards for a variety of purposes, I figured I'd ask if anyone happens to know the largest one the x50v will actually support.

I know there are some 16GB and even 32GB cards out now, with a rumored 64GB CF card in the works from Transcend, but I don't know precisely which one(s) might work. I know a lot of folks report the 8GB cards work great, so... again, just asking if anyone happens to know, or if anyone has experience with an x50v and a 16GB or 32GB CF card. If so could you offer a report on how well it works and if you've encountered any issues at all.

While I'm at it, what's the largest SD card supported too... if anyone knows.

Thanks, and have fun, always...

From what ive heard, all cf cards are supported, up to 32gb.

If you keep 2003se on your x50, then you can only use non sd-hc cards, which only go to 4gb. But, if you put wm6 on there than you can use any sdhc card.

You have 2003se with an 8Gb CF card. But, you say the max is 4Gb. Did I miss something?

I think someone was confusing SD (and SDHC) with CF.

you can't use SDHC cards with 2003 (which limits their size) but i'm not aware of a limit with CF which uses different technology

I use a 32GB a-data CF card from newegg on my X51v. I'll try it on my X50v for you latertonight . I'm really curious if it will work with 2003SE.

kcallahan, reread your 9:22am post and the message to which you're responding. I fire off a response a bit to often also.

I'm using a 16GB CF card in my x50v 2003se and it works great. Kinda' eyeing a 32GB. I'm not really sure why since I have more movies and music on it now that I won't listen to or watch. I guess just knowing it's there is the point.

Limited to a non sd-hc card though so I'm currently stuck at 2GB for SD.

it is possible to get a 4GB non SDHC card.. I have one. But with a 16GB cf I don't think you'd need the extra 2GB

Thanks for the responses. Looking at a 16GB card at Fry's right now for around $40 or so, might also grab a 4 or 8GB SDHC card while I'm at it and fill both the slots with schtuffz.

We'll see what happens...

I think you missed one of the major points.
Your X50v will not work with SDHC, only normal SD up to 4 GB

Well no, I didn't, as I did mention that I'd be upgrading to the Lenny WM6.1 ROM which provides full SDHC support... ;)

Ok, sorry, I missed that.
Does Lenny have a ROM for the X50v?
I've not really been taking much notice but I thought it was only for the X51V.

Yep...

Dell Axim x50v WM6.1 A09 (LennySh Edition) - HTCGeeks Forum

Not completely finished with it yet but, from all the reports I've been reading, it works great and brings the x50v back to life in more ways than one.

the A09 works great on the x50v, L11 is coming out sometime in the future..if you're updating from 2003, please do the proper updates first.

Sorry, if forgot to mention that i was talking about sd cards have a size limit. Sdhc are a type of high capacity sd card that use a different format than regular sd cards. Older devices or the older oses on these devices dont recognize this new format.

But cf cards have kept the same format.
