The choice? X50 - X51V

Howdy all from down under. I have a chance of getting a brand new X50 (Got one but daughter took it, so know that they are new,& has a few left), or a X51V advertised, a bit dearer but loaded to the hilt with accessories. The daughters is great, but the 51 has windows 6 etc faster processor. Any help would be appreciated so thanks in advance. Please be gentle as first post. :approve:

I agree with Rlarson. Get the 51v. I had one for three years and sold it earlier this year. I regret each day and am beginning to look for another one to have around. With the new OS upgrades, this unit was and still is the best made so far.

I'd definately go with the x51v over the x50. I would even pick x51v over the x50v. Having owned both, I would say the x51v is superior because it isn't affected by the filesys/compaction thread issues that the x50/x50v is. No random pauses..Im not knocking the x50/x50v trust me it is barely a step behind the x51v if at all really. The x51v is still one of the best if not best pocket pc ever. Still better than any of the newer phones I have looked at from time to time too.

Also here is the summary of the x51v per the seller.

It has been extremely well looked after from day 1, with a screen protector over the gorgeous 3.7inch VGA screen at all times.
Key Highlights of the Axim x51v
Extremely fast Intel 624mhz processor - the same as the Apple Iphone
Upgraded to Windows Mobile 6
SD Card AND Compact Flash Card slot - 2GB cards included for each - 4GB in total!
Perfect for photo touchups - take your memory card from your camera, and use Photoshop-like tools to edit them
Intel 16MB 2700G Video Card - watch DivX movies, H.263 videos without dropping a
Video-Out - can support up to 1024x640 resolution - perfect for Powerpoint presentations on the road, or movies on your TV (optional cable included!)
3.5mm Headphone jack - to connect your favourite headphones or speakers
WIFI - to connect to any wireless network and surf the internet
Bluetooth - for connection to a GPS device, or A2DP to listen to stereo bluetooth headphones
CF Ethernet Card - connect to WIRED networks as well for speed (or where WIFI isn't available)
Microphone - to use for SKYPE, VOIP calling (like a portable phone), recording lectures
This PDA has gotten me through classes; it has been my laptop when I don't need the size of a laptop, but could use its data-entry; my MP3 player; accessing email when overseas (without the security risk of a laptop)...

Again thanks to all for your reponses.

I think the question here is, How much is the going rate in Oz for an X51v without the accessories?

It is a very nice collection of accessories but you need to value them at their Value to you. Do the ones you will use add up to any significant price difference.

4 AC adapters, can you use them all or do 2 of them just clutter up a draw somewhere.

5 Batteries, how old are they, batteries lose the ability to hold a charge with time.

4 different cases

5 different Memory cards, not really big ones, handy but, with the prices dropping all the time for cards you could replace all 5 cards with 1 for not a lot of money.

The Video out cable is very nice.
Ethernet card might be handy.

Upgraded to WM6, which version? You can do that for free.

How old is the Axim itself, and how hard has it been used in it's lifetime.

What I'm try to say, rather badly, is work out the going rate for a used X51v and compare that to what you are getting with this deal.
Part of me is saying it's very cheap, go for it.
But the other is saying, is it just all the stuff that makes it look good.

I really don't know how much you would normally pay for one in Oz.

If you went to a pawn shop here $200-250, but that's inflated for haggling.
All of the consumables included in this deal don't really seem worth it except for the VGA out cable

That's a damned impressive package for the price (even in Aussie bucks), I'd say grab it fast while you can, definitely.
