My Kubuntu setup stored contacts and calendar as vcf and ics files. Is there a way to import these files directly on the Axim x50v (WM2003SE + Pocket Informant)? I do not have a Windows machine to run Outlook on and I don't want the complexity of a virtual machine or wine (I need to import often).
If vcf and ics (for contacts and calendar, respectively) cannot be imported directly on the Ax, then what formats _can_ be directly imported (not require access to a Windows machine). I can output other to files types such as csv, ldif, vcard, icalendar, and vcalendar.
To my knowledge, they can only be imported from Outlook on a PC. However, there is a program called vCard manager that will do this for you. :exc:

Does anyone know of _any_ program that runs on the Axim, that will import _any_ file format? Once I have something that can import, I can worry about converting my vcf files into the appropriate format.

Why not just install Evolution, SynCE, and Multisync on your Linux and sync your PPC with Linux? Far from perfect (a few restrictions), but maybe worth a try?

I use Kontact (KDE PIM) and I was trying to avoid the mess that currently is OpenSync. That is the plan for when the project comes together, but in the meantime I need something more stable, and I only need one-way sync anyway.
@AKAJohnDoe:
As both the PC and the PDA have bluetooth, that is not a problem. The rest of 'something' is, though. I figured simply exporting the data from Kontact to the Ax would work. If you have any other ideas I'd love to hear them! I love to cobble!
I have not used Kontact (using Gnome myself, not KDE), but the trick to cobbling is to minimize the number of steps while maximizing the reliability of the data mapping. It is kind of like solving a Suduko puzzle. You have the advantage of having multiple transport mediums (file, BT, IR) across which you can traverse. Good luck!

I have been in contact with the developer of Kai's Vcard Manager. He is very helpful, let me try the program to ensure that it would work with Hebrew vcard files, and is responsive to bug reports via personal email. I will definitely be looking at other Kai's other software: Kai´s Pocket PC Software 2008 (Deutsch)
