The choice probably depends on your needs. Two key things strike me: One is size--the HP has a larger overall size, bigger battery, and a larger screen which you might want. The trade-off is that it is slightly less portable or pocketable.
The second thing is "newness". You can get the HP with extended warranty, if you want that, and it runs the newer operating system (WM6), which might give it a few more features, quickness, and future compatibility with new software.
I have an Axim and am very happy with it---planning to keep it until it gives out. I think both devices are very nice and the choice depends on your needs and uses. Perhaps others will point out other matters that differentiate the two.
You might search the site here and look at the threads about the hp--some members have already been commenting on the device and its comparison with the Axim.
I also have a X51V. I love it, in fact I got a second one as a stand by for the future when my daily used one goes south on me. I is the perfect machine for me until they make a smart phone that can do every thing the X51V does for me. Till then I will stick with a simple cell phone for phone calls (imagine that) and my trusty X51V. :approve:
i have both and each has an advantage. the screen on the hp is far better color wise and is bigger, has a lot more ram, and faster wireless. the advantage of the dell is you can set the speed of the processor (rather than auto), smaller, and you can reconfigure all of the buttons (only two with the hp that i've found) plus has one extra button. you'll be good either way.
The ipaq also has wireless g, the pxa310 marvell processor, so its a bit quicker, the 128 ram would be nice also. The screen is 4 inches and really nice.
The main advantage of the x51v is the price, and video performance. Os can be updated, and ram upgrade but it is pricey.
I'm still amazed that we compare a 5 year old PDA to a new one and the older one holds it place in our hearts. The X51v was a marvelous machine and still ist.

I agree with you totally. Dell really screwed up when they stopped upgrading/producing the X51V unit. :approve:

Amen to that! I also just bought a standby/replacement X51V on eBay to cover loss/breakage of my current one! I'm just too dependent on it and have it configured perfectly the way I like it! :approve:

Just shows you great minds think alike LOL. I have a second X51V sitting on my computer desk shelf waiting for the day my current unit fails. :approve:
I agree, I dont think I will upgrade until the thing stops working, and even then I'll probably just get another x51v. I have everything tweaked and backed up, all I would have to do is flash to 6.1, and restore with sprite backup.

My plan also but with this exception. I use SPB as a backup application. :approve:
