I just got a refurbished Ax from Dell support and, of course, they took the old one with the screen protector I had...
I Never used my beloved ax without a screen protector, but at the same time I don't feel the need to change it when it gets all scratched. Maybe I get used to it as it is getting used...
It is hard to find these things here in Brazil, I probably would have to order it from other country.
So, I would like to know how many of you use your stillus and fingers directly on the screen and if you recommend it. :)
duplicate thread, but I've never used a screen protector.
Of course, I always kept my Ax in a hard case and my PPC Phone in a holster.
No naked screens in a bag or pocket

I have used a screen protector on my Ax since day one, and it is scratched and marked all over, mind you, it has been on for nearly three years and is rarely in a case.
I like to be able to throw it around without worrying too much.
But I do try not to put it in my pocket with keys etc...
My HTC7500 has no screen protector, mainly because I've been too lazy to buy one.
But the keyboard covers the screen and I use a third party pen stylus with it that has a very nice tip.
After, nearly a year I think, the screen is still perfect.
It all depends on how you use it.
If you are going to play games all the time or do a huge amount of typing, you risk scratching the regularly used parts of the screen.
However, if you use it more for looking things up and mostly use your finger, it's pretty safe and hard wearing.
One of my brothers destroyed his screen within weeks by playing solitare while traveling in India, all the dust and crap that he never bothered to clean off.
He was quite pleased when it was stolen because his travel insurance replaced it and he was able to start ruining a new screen, but I managed to suggest a screen protector to him.
He never was the sharpest tool in the box family.

I don't use screen protectors on my pocket pcs...I don't like them at all all. I take care to keep the screens clean and put them in cases when they are not in use. The screens show some wear at the top right hand corner, where the X is and along the right side where the scroll bar is, but other than that, the screen is in great shape.

I use a screen protector because the little scratches or wear marks on the screen would drive me nuts. I think people also use them for resale value, it's a pain but imho worth it. I'm just using those crystal clear projector sheets cut on a template someone posted here.
i dont use protectors on Any of the pocket pcs' i repair, build or use. im really gentle with the pda's, and just BARELY press on the screen with my fingers or the stylus.
Personally, I've had a screen protector on since nearly day one on my AX. (4 years) When I researched it here before I bought it, there seemed to be a 50:50 split. Properly cared for a screen protector isn't necessary. However, if you're going to use it outside alot, like I do, an antiglare screen protector is very helpful. Just my opinion. :)

I haven't got one on the Ax now that I use it a lot less
than when I first bought it however I do have one on the
HTC 7501 that I bought from Clear Protector as I use it
everyday. The Clear Protector was $11.00 CAN but
it is as advertised "BULLET PROOF" and will probably
outlast the 7501.
I have been, but I just:
Ordered a sync cable from eBay [Hong Kong seller] to replace a broken dock
Ordered a clear hard plastic case from eBay [Hong Kong seller] that you use when you're using your PDA, not only to store it in
Ordered a screen protector for my X50v from DealExtreme [Hong Kong site]
Link IF I'M ALLOWED, if not, please mods edit: DealExtreme: $1.40 3.8-inch Screen Protector for Dell X50V
I don't work for them, it's not a ref link, just a site.
I do almost all of my data entering on my X51V using it not my PC, which includes word & excel documents on the fly. I have used my PDAs this way since my first Palm Pilot. With screen protection the screen on my PDAs would all be trashed by no. Since I sell my older PDAs to support my NEW PDA habit I have found a 'virgin' screen is a very attractive selling point. :approve:

This is exactly why I buy those cheap, clear stick-on protectors. Without it, you get wear marks in certain areas. Its not worth it. These things are cheap, and last a while. When they get scratched, you just peel them off, throw them away, and stick another on. It takes all of a minute to cut a new one out to size.
Why wouldn't you want to protect your investment? A $5 sticker is definately worth investing in to protect my $400 business productivity booster.
PS: I think the one I bought costs $14. It includes 12 "screen protectors", but those are big enough to get 2 Axim screen protectors out of each sheet. If I change them once a week, I could get a year out of one box. But, reallistically, I've been changing them about once a month or less. That's going to be 4 or 5 years out of one little $14 investment.

I don't like screen protectors and I don't like the loss in sensitivity in the screen. Investment? This is a tool I use everyday, not something I plan to sell at any time. I've used one of my Pocket PCs for at least 4 years....a little bit of wear in those areas does not matter to me.
