I'm leery to try this myself, since the last time I tried out an eBay battery for my Axim it turned out to be pretty much junk. Has anyone gotten one of these?
No, havn't used any ebay batteries for the very reason you suggest. I use only the Mugen 3300 mAh battery, which provides me about 8 hours of uninteruped use. I highly recommend the Mugen batteries.
I agree. I don't trust eBay batteries because of their quality.
Besides a 3600 mAh battery is huge! If you have a case, I doubt it will fit in there.
Personally, I suggest two standard batteries.

I got a battery with that company logo on it (Cameron Sino). Dead on arrival, won't hold a charge, won't power up the Ax at all. Could be a one time failure, but based on that, I would be cautious. I didn't try to exchange it because it came with a refurbed unit and I have about a dozen batteries already, so it wasn't critical to me.
I don't have a 3,300mAh battery but I have read in other threads that it makes the Axim so thick that it won't fit in its cradle so you have to charge it in the back of the cradle and use the original 1,100 to sync.
I suggest the 2,200 mAh battery as a much better bet. Even so you will probably need a new case. I strongly recommend the Sena if you like leather cases. It allows you to insert the Axim in its cradle without having to take it out of the case whic saves a great deal of hassle.
I purchased one of these batteries from MegaCapacity.com
It's also made by Sino and works great - the only issues is that it's HUGE.
It shipped from Hong Kong to Toronto in 6 days and the price of $23 included free shipping worldwide.
I use it when I'm at home as it is made up of 3 1200mAH cells in parallel and comes with its own cover that won't fit into my extanded-battery Rhino case.
The problem with Li-ion batteries is that the cells start to age the moment they come off the assembly line and they generally have a lifespan of 2-3 years. Many Asian companies buy up old stock to build various 3rd party batteries for sale at cheap prices but even new OEM batteries can be bad out of the box.
I just got mine. it is a HUGE but it still fits on the original Dell cradle. And the cover that came with it took a bit of wiggling but then it locked in and has not come loose since i installed it 4 day ago. I do get the low battery warning that others have written about though. I had to disable Batii because it was shutting down the pda but with just the standard battery warning I only click to acknowledge it and it keeps working ok. I got approximately 7 hours of surfing, playing games etc with the light at the third from the lowest setting. Recharging it now and hoping the warnings will go away eventually but if not it really isn't that big a deal to click on the warning a few times a day. Happy so far..... and I bought it on ebay even though i don't usually do that.
I had a 3600 cameron sino and it worked just fine. It added a good inch to the back of the axim though so it was for home use only. It wouldn't fit in the extra battery charger. I had constant low battery warnings despite the battery level I think this was due to the battery lock/door though. I just carry a bunch of standard batteries with me now.
I would love to pick up a bigger battery ... but i've already got an inno mag case which I really like and would hate to buy another case ... now that i've loaded lenny's wm6.1 i'm beginning to use my ax more now though ...
