After my computer with activesync installed went down, I haven't touched it it since 2005. To make long story short I dug up my Axim and update disks and reading through various websites, I have managed to flash the rom twice from 2003se to wm5a01 to wm5a02.
When I tried to update it to wm6 from SD card by pressing wifi, power, and reset button I get " To restore factory setting, press _, TO cancel this operation, press _ Note: All existing data is lost when you restore factory settings" message instead of update message? So I flashed it with wm5a02 two more times and still same message. I was saw one other poster saying the same thing when he tried to update. Is this hardware issue with mine or I am over looking something? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
1. Press Power button and Wi-Fi button at the same time
2. While holding the two, press the reset hole
3. While still holding the two, release the reset hole
4. When the bootloader screen comes up, release the Power button and Wi-Fi
If done correctly, you should see your ROM. Double press the center button of the D-Pad.

I even watched Youtube video on how to upgrade just to verify the buttons. I am doing exactly what you are saying up there for past few hours and still the same. Perhaps because it is refurbished replacement unit from Dell? I figure that they would be same in terms of hardware whether original or refurb unit? Am I stuck at wm02 unless 3button update works for me somehow? Is there any other way to update it to wm6? I am thinking about going down to 2003se if I can't upgrade my x50v to wm6.
What WM6 ROM are you planning to flash, MagLite's or LennySh's?

Whoa! Makuu's WM6.1 VOIP ROMS are designed for x51v. You have an x50v. Therefore, there is no way that's going to work. You are extremely luck it did not brick your device. Do NOT flash any x51v ROM on an x50v!

There is x50v version as well along with x51v at the xda developer forum. As matter of fact I can't even get to self diag screen with rec, power, and reset button. Maybe my refurb axim is wired differently or something after going through refurb process? I guess I am going back to 2003se. At least I can use all the programs bought with minimal conflicts.. .:(
Yes, I found out there was a x50v version by Makuu. I apologize.
