Red and black screen of death?

Good gracious, something dreadful has just happened to my X50V.

I've installed a few new programs on it, which might be the problem. As I recall, I installed AEBPlus - I think that's what it's called, it lets you mess with the hardware buttons better than the native settings. Also, youtubeplayer/viewer, which doesn't work on my device; it won't open. A trial of TextMaker, and a program with a long silly name like PbBShutDownXP, a utility to allow resets and turning off the display easily.

Okay, now the problem: it started to behave weirdly, ie not responding to my touch commands, then the top bar went static-looking, now when I turn it on, it either turns on and is just black and red stripes or black and red checked pattern. As fashionable as that looks, oh good grief help?

Could have been worse, it could be Tartan.

Try a soft reset if you haven't already.

Other than that, a Hard reset.

It certainly sounds like one of the applications is screwing things up.
