TCPMP vs. CorePlayer Mobile

Should I pay for CorePlayer Mobile? It seems to play more codecs that TCPMP without add-ons.

What about interface? TCPMP has some confusing menus.

IMO id much rather hunt down and install codecs than to pay for something as simple of as a media player.

Coreplayer is a bit better at playback and not dropping frames. Also coreplayer can play quicktime videos, and other formats that won't run on tcmcp, and has the youtube function. However, coreplayer does not support subtitles while the .81 tcmcp version does support smi, if that's important to you.

Coreplayer updates seem like they are very slow.

Thanks! The Youtube function is what convinced me. The integrated Youtube player in Lenny's L11 is not working for me. Buying now.

I never even tried to use the one in Lennys rom, I either use coreplayer or skyfire browser for youtube stuff.

makuu's rom has excellent youtube features, you can watch youtube videos right from the desktop version of the site in PIE.

On devices other than axims, Coreplayer performs much better than tcpmp... on an X50V/51V both work great.

Tough call. The interface is totally superior on Coreplayer. But if you are hard put for the money, then in terms of codecs and bottom line functionality, it's hard to say that Coreplayer is worth the money vs the freeware that TCPMP is.

Personally, I did shell out for 1.25, and then again for 1.30 just today, simply because for 30 bucks it's worth supporting the efforts of the only developer who is seriously doing good graphic player work for Windows Mobile. So far, I have not seen one thing that 1.3 does that benefits my use of my HX 4700 over 1.25.

If your a cheapskate, go with tcpmp.

It can do almost everything that coreplayer can. It does have some screwed up options menus, but i like its interface. It reminds me of WMP classic.

I also use TCPMP on legacy PCs or PCs with little ram. Why? TCPMP, the desktop version, can stream audio using less than 2MBs of ram. Compare that to WMP11, which uses over 20MB and even the older versions arent as efficient as tcpmp.

So on all platforms, TCPMP is my friend.

Yeah, I finally got a chance to play with CorePlayer for a bit. Yes, the menu concept is confusing until you get it.

Edit: Problem fixed. It's a bug in CorePlayer. You have to use a wi-fi connection. A cradle (USB) to Internet does not work...

Only issue that is bugging me is the YouTube feature. I tried a test play of "The Lazer Collection" by Dom Fera (Still one of my favorite videos). It does this spinning circle and would not play... Reminds me of endless buffering. Any ideas?
