Aximsitebluetoothicon Moto S9-HD - X50v noise problem

Thanks in advance for any help.

I received a Moto S9-HD BT headset for Christmas and didn't have any issues with pairing and connecting to my X50v (WM2003, ROM-A03) but the sound quality was horrible; noise, skipping, etc. So I connected to my VX9900 phone and verified it was not the headset, they sound great!

I've found a plethora of information on Aximsite regarding similar issues and I really don't know what applies to my scenario. I found one that sounded like it and tried the HP Ipaq update (sp30003.exe) and now I have no audio whatsoever on the Ax. I've searched the web and again, don't see anything descibing the same issue.

I have little to no experience with BT, I have a Delorme BT Logger GPS that, lucky for me, was foolproof.:rolling:

Updated to WM2003 A05 and installed pda2k_broadcomcorp_btupdate.cab from crash613's rough draft tutorial on "Logitech BT Headphones - fully functional with x50 $39 AR" thread. This got the audio functionality back and the quality is better, but still not nearly to the quality from my phone.

I'm still searching so the question remains...

Are there any other updates I'm missing that will give the Ax the quality I've read about in so many posts (as good as or better than an iPod) ?

Another step forward

For some reason when I tried the headset this morning the quality is very good. :approve: But sadly, occasionally the quality reverts back to sub-standard. (Maybe I've missed a file that needs to be updated or deleted.) I've also noticed that when a track changes the audio level is attenuated but as soon as I touch the Ax's menu's (WMP) the level perks back up. All of the controls on the headset seem to be functional too.

I'm still confused regarding the weird flashes of poor audio and strange level changes, if this sparks any thoughts from anyone, please share.

mmm, can you tell us what ROM you have for the x50v? You might want to try updating it as the update upgrades the Bluetooth ROM stack.

You might want to consider trying the Widcomm BT stack.

I don't know if it will solve your problem but if it doesn't you can always uninstall it.

I have an X50v and I'm running WM2003 A05.

Frankly, I've been intimidated by the tomes of data in that thread(s). The first post shows a group of available downloads and the thread title says they are for the X50v and X51v, but the names on the files are only showing the X51v. Do you know which is applicable or if it even matters? And doesn't the OS version have more bearing on the applicability?

If you are running WM2003 A05 then I don't think it will help you.

It was designed to fix problems with the WM5 BT stack.

So, ignore my suggestion.

I don't know, do you think upgrading to WM6.1 is worth it? It might be able to fix that problem.

Upgrading is flashing a new ROM. Which means you have to backup EVERYTHING because your Axim will be wipe completely then installed a new ROM.

When I started this on the day after Christmas I was on A03, so I've upgraded once to A05.

So I'm assuming you don't have much on there...

I guess you have much to lose then, try Lenny's A09 ROM, it's WM6.1: Dell Axim x50v WM6.1 A09 (LennySh Edition) - HTCGeeks Forum.

If you don't like it, you can always reflash A05 from Dell.

If you do not know how to flash, please ask us.

Do I need to upgrade the OS to WM 6 first?

This is upgrading the OS to WM6. Also know as "flashing".

Roger that, my question comes from reading the thread with Lenny's ROM, and there was a post saying that if you're running WM2003, you need to upgrade to WM 5 then to Lenny's 6.1. The guy who went straight from 2003 to 6.1, bricked his device.
