Calendar options other than Outlook

I don't have or really want Outlook. I do want a calandar and appointment program that syncs with my PC. Is this possible?

I want to manage my calandar appointments on my PC and use my Axim for reference mainly. So I need to sync with something on my desktop. I have Microsoft Works 8, so something that links to it would be fine. I just want to use my PC desktop to keep things and sync to the Axim.

outlook sounds like the perfect program then... may i as why you don't want it?

(you could use essential pim, goosync or intelisync... but why not outlook?)

Well, I don't have it. I'm happy with express. Doesn't it come with Office? Don't want to buy Office. I just want to keep track of appointments on my PC, along with contacts and some to do notes.

Essential pim looks good. Any other (cheaper) options?

I just found out. It's overkill and too expensive for my needs.

You can sync to Microsoft Works' Calendar and Address book...at least you can from an XP computer. All you need to do is turn on the device synchronization feature within Microsoft Works and set up ActiveSync.

Open up Microsoft Works Task Launcher:
  • On your computer, select Start > Programs > Microsoft Works > Microsoft Works Task Launcher
  • Select Programs > Synchronization > Windows CE device synchronization. You will see a message that states:
  • "Works will now run the ActiveSync program to install the Works Synchronization files onto your Windows CE device. After the ActiveSync application downloading is complete, please turn off your Windows CE device and then turn it back on to complete the installation."
  • Select OK to accept this message.

Then open up ActiveSync on your computer and connect your Pocket PC. ActiveSync's application installation wizard will appear and prompt you where you wish the Works software to be installed on your Pocket PC.

I tried that and it didn't work. After it tried to install the sync on my Axim it showed a message saying tha it might not work because it was an older version. My Axim is a x51v with Mobile 5. I wish it worked.
