I have an ATT air card and with the air card comes free WiFi access at Starbucks and many other places.
Has anyone been able to figure out how to use that access on X51v? There is a place to key in an ID and a password but the customer service person at ATT didn't think it could be done.
It's my understanding you must plug the aircard into your PC. So, I doubt it'll work by entering an ID and PW from your Ax.

The stock browser might give you problems on the axim. I have had mixed results getting password popus to work. I need to try the opera browser. I have heard it might work better. Might also be an diea for you to try. I am guessing you are using the stock WM5 explorer browser.
Hi, I have an ATT account, and have no problem logging in at hot spots. It does not require a key to connect to login page, but requires id and password to get past the page.
I am new to the X51, but it picked up my wireless wan right away, and when I put in my key.
The Laptop Connect plan requirea the Aircard to be connected to the device as well as using the AT&T Communication Manager. Therefore, you must be using a Windows Laptop (XP or Vista). It will not work with your PDA. Sorry.

I have never been into a Starbucks to try their WiFi but I when ever I am in or near Paneras I log into their free WiFi with no issues. Their site presents a log in that accepts their policies (standard with most free WiFi's) and after that am logged in and on the web. Pretty much the same at Microtel, Holiday Inn, etc. from my experience. I do not have a 'air card' I just use what WiFi's are showing on my X51V and surf away. :approve:
I have AT&T DSL service at the house, which includes Wi-Fi access at AT&T hot spots. I've logged in at Starbucks with my Axim using my DSL user name and password. It's worked every time!
If you have a data plan you could just bluetooth sync your phone and Axim, and connect out that way. Just create a bluetooth partnership and add the phone as a modem. I use AT&T's 3g network all the time.
