Batteries died, now can't sync

I have an Axim X50v that I've used for several years to sync with two computers. I use Outlook, mostly. Recently, my unit sat around till the battery and backup battery both ran out. I put it in the cradle to charge and it's back and running again. Problem is, it keeps wanting to run the Active Sync wizard and giving the unit a new name. How can I get it to sync with its old name and using its previous stored information on my PCs? I'm using Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition, version 4.21.1088 (Build 14260.2.5) and my Active Sync version is 4.5. Both my Windows PCs run on XP Professional. Thanks sooo much for any help/suggestions:)

Welcome to the site!

Because your device hard reset, it has to start a new partnership with your PC. What you can do to is this though:

Open up ActiveSync (without being connected to your device) and delete any existing partnerships. (File - Delete Partnership.) Then name your X50v the previous name it had by going to Settings - System tab - About - Device ID tab and inputting the desired name. Backup your Outlook info on your PC (File - Import and Export - Export to PST file), then sync. It will prompt you to create a new partnership, but you will have your old device name. If prompted, choose replace items on device instead of replacing items on your PC.

Thanks, Gigi ... that worked up to a point. It how accepts my device under the old name, but leaves more than 1,000 items unresolved in the Calendar. When I sync, I have Options set to replace items on the device and to sync all items, past and present. It did sync my contacts.

Check your system clock on your Axim. That might be the reason of the unresolved items.

I started all over, did a hard reset, deleted the partnership, then named my Axim with the old name ... when I sync, it loads the contacts just fine, but won't load any of the calendar ... leaves me with 1041 unresolved conflicts. When I click to resolve the first conflict, it says "One appointment cannot be read from Microsoft Outlook due to error 80004004 ... then it lists that appointment ... does this for each one, always the same error number.

Problem solved. I restarted the PC after noticing that Outlook wouldn't allow me to create a new appointment ... after the restart, everything synced fine and I'm on my way back to Axim bliss ... thanks to all for your help!
