I bought a SDHC card and it doesnt work :(

I have a Dell Axim x51 with windows mobile 5.0. I bought a SDHC 8gb card, not realizing that there is a difference between the SD and SDHC formats. Well the x51 doesn't support the HC format by default.

I was wondering, is there a firmware update that will allow the x51 to read this card? Is there a way to get it to work but at a lower memory capacity? Although I would hate to go that route. The card was only $15 though, so its not really worth sending back to newegg over it. :/ The shipping would be on my dime too.

There is a driver in this thread that will let you use 4 gb of the card.

Just unzip the file on your system, then copy the cab file over to your Axim (I just open up My Computer in Vista and drag and drop), then launch the cab file from Mobile Explorer and install it to main memory.

There are instructions, but simply download the ZIP file in the first post to you PC.
Unzip it and copy the .cab file in it to you Axim, either by explore in activesync, an SD or CF card or by Bluetooth.
Once it is on your axim find it in File Explorer and Tap on it.
It will install, soft reset your Axim and try your card.

Sucks that I only have half of the memory card though, but for now this will do. The card was cheap enough.

There are no ROM upgrades for the X51 but if you had a X51V you can upgrade to WM6 or WM6.1 with a ROM flashing. ROM's can be found on the web and they are free with no guarantee of course. :approve:
