Batteries not holding charge...ideas?

I have an x51v that was recently stolen. I was lucky enough to get it back but had to do a hard reset on it. Since then, my batteries don't seem to hold a charge. They range anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. I have several that I rotate. The battery meter at the top doesn't go down when I use it and when I place the unit in the cradle, it says the batteries are recharged way too quickly.

I am running WM6.1 (Lennysh).

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Steve

It's the standard symptom of a old battery. You can get from $10 to $30. Personally, I bought my extended battery from Dell way back when. Just don't buy off those Ebay sellers, they tend to be counterfeit ones.

I bought my 2400 mAh thru Amazon. Here's the link.

Amazon.com: HQRP Replacement Internal Li-Ion Battery for DELL X50 X50v X51 X51v + Back Cover: Electronics

Personally, I haven't received the "battery door open" message.

OMG! I'm sorry but you said that you haven't recieved the "battery door open" message yet. I get that message all the time! Can you tell me why my axim always says, "The battery latch was opened" everytime I barely nudge the battery cover. Is it because of an old battery? Any help is appreciated.

Ummm, did you try the search function? It actually works great. I found this in a couple of seconds Successful battery latch operation on my Dell Axim x51v PDA :)

Thank you very much. The link you gave me led to many other links and I have found many solutions to my problem. One of them is putting tape on the battery cover and another being super glue and even another being taking it apart as showed on your link. Thank you very much!
